Scaling based on average framerates might be there, but the problem is usually minimum framerates.

SLI (and crossfire as well) tend to work well until that one problem scene when they don't. In Red Orchestra 2 it used to be when the battlefield was smoked up, and artillery was falling ontop of you and you were trying to rush for cover. Then all of a sudden the framerates would drop really low.

The average still looked fine, and appeared to have great scaling, but the minimums were unsatisfactory, and usually occurred at the most important high intensity times when you needed high framerates the most.

I don't even look at average framerates in reviews anymore, and I haven't for over 10 years. In every review I read, I skip directly to minimum framerates. if the review doesn't have minimum framerates, then I read a different review. I find average framerates to be of little to no value in making a decision on playability and overall gaming experience. The experience is determined almost entirely by minimum framerates.

This is true for all GPU combinations, but especially so in SLI builds, there the minimums seem to be much lower compared to the averages, than they do on single GPU's

Yeah,

I haven't played any of those titles, but that seems to support my subjective experiences quite nicely.

Notably, in some titles the 1080SLI actually has LOWER minimums than a single 1080, and an overclocked Pascal Titan absolutely trouncing everything else. tongue.gif

These things always vary from title to title though. Some AAA titles do a great job of optimizing for SLI, but if you get out of AAA and into the more interesting titles (IMHO) I like to play SLI tends to perform worse and worse.

Titan XP numbers are a projection only - pure calculation from the raw force these have compared to TXM and 1080 - the end results is an average of 60% over TXM and 33% over 1080, which is exactly coming from the core count. So far, haven't tested it all, but that's about similar to what I have experienced with a real card.

Would love to have time to test again with TXP for real, but mine is still stuck in "shipping"...

This seems to be the case with the game as it is very demanding or poorly coded. What settings are you using?

Same engine as Rot Tomb Raider I presume. Lacks SLI, of course.
