The statement that 9 out of 10 dentists recommend may be a fact, but only in as much as it is a fact that the OPINION of 9 out of 10 dentists think something. The most you are doing here is making an objective statement about the dentists subjective opinion.

To make it an objective, factual statement you have to have some sort of performance metric, but even when you do have an objective measure of something, it's almost impossible to show that one thing is objectively better than the other across the board. There is no best anything. "best" is always an opinion. There isn't even a "better" anything. The most you can hope for is a "better at task X" or "better in situation Y". Across the border "best" does not exist. Across the border "better" is extremely rare.

Even when you have an objective performance metric, lets say Brightness. Screen A has a higher measured brightness than screen B. That doesn't necessarily mean that Screen A has "better" brightness than screen B. It just means it is brighter. This might be great for some poeple or in some situations (sunlight) but worse for others as it might be too bright or hurt their eyes.

Best does not exist, better only rarely exists unless you really narrow things down to a very specific setting or task.

Now back to screens.

I have a curved screen, and for my use it is better than a flat screen, as I sit very close to a large screen, and it allows me to see the corners without viewing angle distortions, whereas if I sat this close to a flat screen of similar size, that would be a problem. it might have had some impact on light uniformity, but I cant really tell in my use.

I wouldn't use a curved screen as a TV for viewing across a room though. They don't seem well suited to that.

Yeah...I dunno. I can only smile at ignorance and move on biggrin.gif.

It's a fact that that is THEIR OPINION. (or it may be, I haven't verified it).

I would probably even agree with that opinion IF USED AS A TV.

When sitting really close to a very large monitor, a mild curve is almost essential!

Again, subjective vs objective. The distinctions are very important.

On my previous Titan X setup I was using a very simple mooded BIOS that let you increase the "power" slider from the factory 110% limit up to an modded 120% limit. This allowed my cards to hold a slightly higher clock consistently in very heavy gaming scenes. The mod was so simple using whatever the program was called to edit the BIOS, I could see exactly what he'd done and using basic highscool math I could have changed the numbers to allow 125% etc. (though I didn't)

Any chance of something like that for the XPs? I would be curious if a modded power limit of say 125-130% (since the XP seems to allow 120% by default) would have the same effect.

It's probably going to be a while, if we ever get a modded BIOS.

The BIOS is signed this time around, so essentially it's like waiting for a Root or a Jailbreak. Someone might be able to figure it out, someone might not. Not going to be as straight forward as previous generations.

I wouldn't stay up at night waiting. As I mentioned in the post above yours, the BIOS files are digitally signed this time around.

It's going to take A LOT of effort to break them.

In the past it was an easier task, and those trying could rely on leaks from inside board partners to get the tools and information they needed for it.

This time around the task is MUCH more difficult, due to the digital signing, and there are no board partners, and Nvidia is much better at keeping leaks from going out than the board partners are.

It's going to be more like waiting for a Android root / unlocked bootloader or an iPhone jailbreak, except the volumes of Titan X buyers are much smaller than the volumes of phone buyers, so there will be many fewer people working on it.

Someone might have a breakthrough at some point and succeed, but it is just as possible that there will never be a successfully modded bios for the new Titan.

TitanP boosting itself to 40% over stock from Factory that's exactly what we were able to do with most Maxwell using Custom BIOS , about 35% over stock and 40% in rare cases.
It really is doubtful we gonna get some BIOS tools mad.gif

Well, there's always the shunt mod.

I just wish there was a way to give me better warm fuzzies about it.

I neither want to put liquid metal paste on the resistors nor solder over them. Both seem too risky to me.

I wonder if a conductive silver trace pen might work better. Anyone know if those can be wiped off if you change your mind?

SHUNT MOD gives you stability , not higher OC. We do need that stability but not this way . It's just brutal IMO rolleyes.gif
