[Official] NVIDIA Titan X Pascal Owners Thread - Page 318

Just noticed that the 1080 volt modding guide at xdev has been updated regarding the shunt mod:

https://xdevs.com/guide/pascal_oc/#step3

They now say NOT to shunt the 5M ohm resistors directly, but to add 10 ohm resistors to a corresponding set of 3 capactirors located nearby:

I presume this applies directly to the Titan X?

+REP!

Been looking for something like this, thank you!

Btw guys, any new rumors about 1080ti or vega coming this year?

EDIT: JPMBOY, ya that would work. So would a few dabs of thermal paste you have laying around. It won't do anything temp wise since the OEM backplates appear to be some kind of ABS plastic but it would keep it secure. Honestly the loose half (i.e. the right) sit perfectly in place without any effort at all, in a conventional case where the cards lay flat. If you had one of those cases where your cards were vertical, yeah a small piece of double sided servo tape from a hobby store would be perfect.

I don't think they are ABS plastic, but rather a very thin piece of alloy. Seems rather light for ABS plastic.

Someone try out these settings in Deus Ex. It's the best I could find that looked good while still maintaining an average fps of at least 100. Although, admittedly, some areas I drop to 90fps because the latest drivers broke overclocking on my cards and I have to run them under 2GHz. For the rest of you, that shouldn't be a problem. In buildings/etc it'll go up to 120-144fps. GPU usage generally sits at around 85% across both cards. Meaning with water blocks and a proper OC, and DX12, we can probably look forward to another 25-30% FPS compared to now. But it's honestly playable right now.

This is for 1440p, btw.

Couple things to note: Screen space reflections. They're nice. But it's responsible for a solid 10% reduction in FPS, even with the normal "on" mode. Ultra is even worse. "Very High" shadows are also less taxing that "High" shadows. Noooo idea why.

edit: One mistake I made. You should keep shadows on Medium because Very High seems to introduce some hitching during many scene transitions. The screenshots below are all with Medium shadows.

If you fight them on this in the US you will eventually win, but it may take time effort and money.

Voiding warranty based on things like this is illegal in the US based on the Moss-Magnuson act

I surrounded the resistor with electrical tape and applied a thin layer.
Application is not very easy with the "cotton bud" provided by Thermal Grizzly....

With aircooling, the card oc'ed to 2050 (+500 memory) hits ~110/115% on Firestrike and obviously, it could not maintain 2050 due to temperature throttle.
Pushing voltage slider to the max resulted in 1.093v but this is useless since the card throttles almost instantly due to Power Limit.

Once watercooled, Firestrike eats between 80 & 90% TDP and up to 100% with 1.093v and constant 2100 GPU frequency (+500 memory).

So shunt mod on only one resistor provides ~20/25% more power.

Concerning GPU temperature, it's ~8-9°C above water temp, as usual with EK blocks, I'd say.

25°C ambient temp --> 34°C GPU temp after 30mn of intensive load (custom loop with 3 RX480v3 / 2xMCP35X and 5960X at 4500 + R5E)

You did not appy enough LM. Mine stays at about 40% power.

Is that a 49incher? And the side monitors, are they the old 20" IPS Dells? I used to have two of those in portrait next to a Dell 3011 30". Now I've got a 55" monstrosity on my desk next to my RoG Swift, and I couldn't be happier. It's amazing how quickly you can get used to the size.

If I'm right, you applied LM on all 3 resistors.

Just one for me, so 25% gain of TDP is not only normal but also enough since my card don't even reach 100% with max overclock in Witcher 3.
Because of the weakness of VRM on this card, I was reluctant to apply LM on more than 2 resistors, did not even considered doing it on all 3.

Just setup my LG 34UM88 monitor. It's a 34" UltraWide. It's their newest flat screen monitor and it looks great! I believe they fixed their Backlight bleeding issues. Anyway, my Titan XP is beasting away in every game at 3440x1440p max settings in DooM and Rainbow Six Siege. Can't wait to see what BF1 looks on this bad boy. thumb.gif
