2GHZ TITAN X faster than 1080
1080p -> 23%
WQHD -> 43%
4K -> 52%

Damn, my card was supposed to be delivered at 10:30am EST, which is 8 minutes away... but my tracking is showing a 'delivery exception' with no reason (looks like it was late getting to end point fedex for distribution).. so now it's just showing sitting at fedex a couple towns away. Gonna bother Nvidia for a shipping refund if it's not here by 10:30. Making me waste $36 shipping, and my day when I should be working. Was planning to go in at 1/2 day mad.gif

really? their website now says the NVidia HB bridge will not work. (it wasn't there yesterday)

but unless they moved back the terminal connectors (and they might have) the NVidia one won't work.

When i run in a city , if it rain and a lot of people appear my fps drop from 55-65 to 30 or 40 in one shot, that cause SEVERE stuttering VERY OFTEN, i tried vsync on and off, its the same thing. But in openworld with no rain and a few ennemies the stuttering dont happen often and fps is solid 60fps.

Is it possible that witcher3 is just too graphical powered to be really playable at 4k even with several setting downgraded ?. But my 1070 and 980ti were not stuttering at 4k, that is strange.

This is my pc, if you find something fishy:

Intel I5 4690 3.5ghz-3.9ghz
32gb ram ddr3 1600mhz
1tb wd black
Asus h97-plus
Antec power supply 750watts

That so bad , i found witcher3 more playable at 4k with my 1070 and 980ti, its so sad, only 35-45fps but no stuterring, with same graphics setting and same 4k resolution

Not having this problem, witcher 3 runs beautifully for me. I still disable hair works though because it honestly isn't worth it. If you haven't that's the first thing i'd disable as it's known to cause severe performance issues at times for almost no difference.

If you enabled fast sync, then you will get severe stuttering below 50fps or so.

I tried SEVERAL games 20-30min each. No stuttering at all in all these games at 4k with maximum graphics setting even rise of the tomb raider:

Project cars, rise of the tomb raider, dragon age inquisition, risen 3...

No stuttering at all in any of these games, i use adaptive vsync.

I just thought i update my witcher3 old version from 1,04 or 1,05 to last version, a few days ago. Maybe the last version patch cause me this. I will uninstall it later today and reinstall it with version 1,05 and compare. I have a little less stuttering right now, i use recommendation for stuttering for this game on the net, still not satisfied, I will tell you news about these stuttering after trying 1,05 version. Thanks so much everybody for your help, its so much appreciated. I read all your comments and recommendation. My 100% final overclock result are: core +210 mem +700 for 547gb/s of bandwith BETTER and FASTER than quadro 12gb HBM2 version at 540gb/s , who said hbm2 is faster than ddr5x ? LoL

Note: i have 6942 result for firestrike ultra, im a little disappointed it seems overclocked one in average got 7200+ , mine is overclocked to max, maybe i lost a few points because of my memory ddr3 and i5 4690, but i dont think a i5 4690 should bottleneck my titanx in 4k gaming, in 1440p it could be probably

I prey to get working witcher3 with no stuttering later today. Prey for me guys! wink.gif

That is interesting. EKWB must have changed the block design of the Titan because I thought the HB bridge didn't work with the GTX 1080 waterblock. People were a bit upset about it and EK was designing their own HB bridge that is compatible. Good news if true

Look at GTA V. Or even better, look at Tomb Raider under DX12. It actually hits 90% usage across all 8 cores. I first became suspicious when I noticed my 4.625GHz 5820k work PC outperforming my gaming rig on some games. Basically, older games will be fed sufficiently by a 4 core CPU at 4.7GHz without there being a huge advantage in going with a 6700k with an extra 7% OC. And all other games will benefit more from the additional cores available on the 5960x. Heck if I could guarantee that a 6950x would OC to 4.5GHz I'd have gone that route. But with the 5960x, you get enough cores, with enough clock speed.

Hmm Hyper I'm not so sure about that. Virtually all tests I've ever seen put the 6700K ahead of the lower clocked 8 to 10 core CPU's for gaming. Remember Skylake is still the fastest architecture per clock and once you put 4.8 GHz on top of that, it's hard to beat.

Take a look at this that just came out. 6700K cleaned up across the board, even in some games you mentioned:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-what-is-the-fastest-gaming-cpu

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/06/24/dx11_vs_dx12_intel_6700k_6950x_framerate_scaling/1#.V6NXiTsrK0o

I've always gotten the highest/most expensive GPU, but the $1700 6950X has about the worst cost to gaming performance due to its low clocks of about any CPU ever released. Plus with SLI now two cards max and the HB SLI bridge out, you don't need those extra PCI-E lanes/slots either.

Any chance you have Firestrike run with 6700k @ 4.8? Mine is 4.6 and i think my score is much lower with 1080 in it.

1.05 is super old and lacks a lot of optimization they put into the game. The latest patch should perform the best.

Disable hairworks if you haven't, make sure you have FPS limit set to unlimited. Try doing a fresh reinstall of the latest TItan X driver and check "clean install".

My card still caps out at a super low +300 RAM. I tested +350 a bit, and I ended up getting some artifacts after about 30 minutes even with +0 on the core. I get 7300ish in Fire Strike with +200/+300. Definitely your processor, benchmarks are not the same as games.

I have heard that newer processor smooth out FPS significantly in Witcher 3 and GTA 5. Unless you stated the wrong model, your processor can't be overclocked. It's probably your processor that's causing the stuttering and random drops. Most people buying Titan X overclock their processors and/or are running a newer processor with higher stock clocks.

You are right. I just bought my 6700k about 2 weeks ago and I researched extensively on this topic. Money wasn't in the question, and I still went with a 6700k.
