Hi. I'm planning upgrading my Q9300 (that is running at 3Ghz. more info in my sig rig "Weekend Rig"). An I already have a 1155 motherboard. Now. I have the possibility of buying a I5-2400 for 80€ (with 2 yañears of warranty). But also, for 145€ I can buy a I5-3570 (same 2 year warranty).
Which should I choose having in mind that my 1155 motherboard is a B75 chipset board and it can't overclock at all since it's a ACER OEM Board.
The 3570 will be faster only because of clock speeds, it's up to you if almost doubt the price is worth the slight performance boost. Personally I would go with the 2400, but if money is absolutely no object than the 3570.
Actually I might get an 35€ discount on both CPUs (so the 2400 would be 45€ and the 3570 would be 110€).
I was looking to get the 2400, since 45€ is a pretty good price and should be a theorical 60% boost over a Q9400 (that would be my Q9300@2.66Ghz, since it's running at 3Ghz I think it would be an overall 25-30% increase having in mind the jump from DDR2-1000 to DDR3-1600).
400mhz clock advantage and slight IPC improvement. I'd opt for the 3570... however being that the price delta is so big I'd probably just grab the sandy bridge and put the remaining budget towards other parts. Especially being that this is a secondary rig and your main one already has a much faster cpu in it.
Yeah, i think i will just get the 2400 and save the rest of the money for a GPU upgrade.
Well, thanks everyone of the advice!
