1 Week left to upgrade to Win 10. How badly can it goof my mouse performance?

Thread Starter
Been putting this off and now I'm near the end of the line (barring Microsoft making 10 free forever). Still nervous about hitting that upgrade button, though. I've heard about 10 doing things like using GPU acceleration for desktop, but can it affect how the mouse feels in game?

Win 7 already uses gpu acceleration for desktop.. it's called desktop composition.. hahahaha...

You should be fine as long as you run your games fullscreen and find good windows 10 drivers for your hardware

Only thing which can goof your mouse performance are bad drivers microsoft had way before 1511 release. There's still no reason to upgrade to windows 10 though, you're not getting anything beside DX12.

i was like you, always wondering if i should go to win10

finally made the move 5 days ago and i must say im quite impressed with it

make the jump before the time runs out, if you dont like it you can easily roll back to win7

had no mouse problems with gaming so far

mouse felt fine but I just didnt like all this tracking stuff they had. dont understand why microsoft needs all your info. if you disable all the unnecessary stuff and use a start button like classic shell its not too bad but I dont see any reason to upgrade.

There's no reason to upgrade? What about 4 years from now when you're paying for a Win 8.1 or 10 license?

Unless you're happy using a less secure Windows 7, of course.

Edit: What you could do is upgrade and then immediately roll back to Win 7 so that the hardware is activated on Win 10 and you can upgrade after Win 7 stops recieving support. This relies on you using the same motherboard for at least the next 4 years, though :/

Then we'll talk about it 4 years from now. Windows 10 isn't worth upgrading to right now.

There's no issue with W10 anymore, just get it. IF you don't like it then you can always revert back and have the W10 key locked to your account in case you ever want to upgrade in the future.

The main issue with W10 is that it's collecting way too much personal data. Microsoft was in the news just yesterday on this topic.

Other than that, I think there is slightly more bloat that needs disabling that in W7. Performance is still acceptable though when you've hunted everything down.

Another thing that needs factoring is the Windows Store exclusives. A lot of gamers will want access to them and they're exclusive to W10.

Then of course there's DX12.
