I am not assuming. Depending on the game, the R9 390 is faster. Sometimes slower. That is normal. Overall it seems to be a tad faster but at the cost of higher power consumption. Of course, in pretty much all DX12 and the one good Vulkan bench we have, it easily wins against its closest Maxwell competitors. It is built for longevity (what matters to me ... a lot).

The fact they'll get better on DX12 or vulkan is to assume something, you can't say for sure, not only because it happened it's gonna happen again, or will continue happening on cards that already show that, on the last benchmarks i saw, (1060 benchmarks) OC 970 was faster than 390 pretty much always and sometimes faster than the 390X, of course we're talking about dx11 mostly, but again, you can only assume AMD will or could exploit that advantage they seem to have on DX12 on few titles and nvidia won't, why nobody assumes nvidia will improve their DX12 or vulkan (they're already doing it with vulkan) and surpass AMD on that too?
Frankly man, i really hope AMD will get their sht together, cause i've had enough of nvidia prices and just a-hair better than AMD (and not even always). That will cause AMD to double their market share in a matter of few years and really compete with nvidia on every front again, that will also cause nvidia being more competitive price wise mostly, so we'd have lower prices, and more competition which is always good.
