Common sense + Knowledge would be a good enough indicator... Guess not. Such is life.

They will direct you in the right way. AotS and Hitman were the first true Dx12 games, I haven't followed closely enough to know if there are others by now. Many games utilize a Dx12 wrapper to make use of high-layer Dx12 features without having to rewrite the game.

But yeah, common sense, do you think they re-coded the whole game from the ground-up when Dx12 became available, and are running both codebases alongside to allow both Dx11 and Dx12 in the options? Or maybe you thought Dx12 is 100% compatible and Dx11-compiled code just plain runs? I admire your bright view of our reality smile.gif

Also, google "layered architecture", "extensibility" and "object oriented programming" to know what "wrapper" and "encapsulations" means.

Ok, i'll lurk it a bit.

I don't think anything, just asked for source and proof, it was the first time i heard of such thing, so i asked.

They will. Eventuall Nvidia will do DX12 and Vulkan really well. Thing is... what will AMD do by then?

Who knows. We know the 390 will outlive the 970 and 980, this is obvious. The rest is what is actually interesting.

Bottom line is, too bad amd has nothing that will run with nvidia gpus.. By the time amd releases the 490 nvidia will probably be on to the next generation and amd will be left behind again.

I think amd knew they couldnt run with the 1070 or 1080 so they had to hit the low ball sector, yea the 480 and 1060 are now the low end, at least to a gamer they are.... I mean look at the power draw and heat those 480's generate, anyone have a hotdog? A 480 drawing as much power as a 1070 and running like a 970, so much for advancement in energy efficiency.

Price and availability, cheapest 480 I've seen available was $300 on ebay, newegg had a seller on there wanting $400 and some idiots have bought them at that price.

Lets see how nvidia and amd does as their drivers mature, and dx12 releases in more titles than just amd sponsored titles..

So you know, I've owned amd gpus for the last 12yrs, and just switched to a Zotac 1070 in my main gaming rig.. and likely wont be going with any more amd gpus in my main rigs..
I have a modified 480 in my backup rig, and I'm not impressed by it, its a good card for the money but not a deal breaker, and the software package nvidia has is miles ahead of amd..

Also, Fury is the fastest GPU in DOOM Vulkan, so not such a pos after all.

Oh, my he has rep on the internet, so does hillary Clinton...

Well my zotac 1070 walked all over my fury.. already tested them in the same machine one after the other, so I know.. I dont play doom and dont care too, looks too much like unreal tournament and not very graphically challenging.

and the 1080 is the fastest right now, not the fury or fury-x. look at the 1070 wink.gif

almost forgot, thats not overclocked either.

I was thinking... remember that issue we had with the CF 2x480 RX vs 1x 1080 in Ashes. And people were commenting on difference in the output generated by the 2 brands.

The response was that the 1080 is not showing some stuff and that in return makes it easier for it to draw. This can directly translate into the 1060 making it catch up to the RX 480 in terms of frames per second even thou the lack of Async compute.

it's like using lower settings. Those Nvidia tricks are so funny. If AMD had tweaked their software to simply ignore Nvidia-works stuff we would have an outrage from the community but when Nvidia does something so shady nobody cares.

More over why do benchmarkers test Doom in OpenGL ? Who would use OpenGL if all 2 brands get benefits from Vulkan and it's supported by all GPU's ?

Why not give us benches of Dx9 stuff it's the same thing.
