Which GTX 1070 to get / They all overclock the same?

Ok so I've been doing lots of homework recently, and from every review I've seen, every GTX 1070 overclocks to witihin about 40mhz of each other, so basically 2 questions

1: Why aren't cards with more power being able to enter the card on custom PCB's able to greatly surpass the founders edition cards, or even aftermarket cards with only 1 8-pin (ie: Zotac AMP! edition takes an 8-pin and a 6-pin but can't overtake the EVGA SC with its single 8-pin)

2: Should I just get the card I like best?

the reason AIB cards are not able to surpass FE, is even tho they got more power delivery hardware. the power limit is capped low in the bios, probably to maintain a low power marketed card and keep temps low.

There is also rumours that nvidia are binning the best chips for FE cards.

I have two MSI 1070 X's and they are awesome. Both will OC +125mhz and +700mem. They are beastly. I have had several MSI 980tis and 980s and MSI has never dissapointed. Quiet and cool.

So what your saying is we need a BIOS flash for then to unlock the voltage more?

I was leaning more towards the Gigabyte X 1070 but life happened and I no longer have 1070 money frown.gif
Now I have to look for an upgrade to my single 770 that's worth while and much cheaper.

Are any of them enough of an upgrade from a 770 to be worth it though. Also only have like, $300 Canadian left

They're significantly faster. Is a GTX 1060 in that price range? That performs on GTX 980 level.

Used GTX 970s. I would do one or a pair. for $300Cad you can get one and have almost the money for a second. Very strong cards in SLI. a single 970 will be as faster or a tad faster than SLI 770s are just to give you an example.
