AMD has seen some huge improvements in their Q2 2016 financial results, returning to Non-GAAP profitability and increased revenue.
This quarter AMD has seen a 23% increase in revenue compared to Q1 2016 and a 9% increase when compared to this time last year. In terms of operating loss AMD has decreased their GAAP operating loss from 137 million in Q2 2015 to just 8 million in Q2 2016.

Glad to see them moving in the right direction. They need to get AIB 480's out and some lower tiered cards rolling as well. A well priced RX 470 will do them wonders too.

On a side note: I knew the poster was definitely not the typical member that post these right off the bat, they only post the financial results when AMD does horrible.

Zen can't come soon enough to turn up that cash flow.

I really hope for AMD's sake Zen is properly competitive. If not, they will need to force it to be competitive with rock bottom pricing. Obviously that is hardly ideal but hey need to slowly chip away and increase market share somehow at this point.

Sounds good, now if they could just release Zen I could upgrade this Piledriver chip. I've been with AMD for 10 years now, but at this point it's getting rather tempting looking across the isle.

Vega is 2017, Zen is 2017, Nvidia GTX 1070 beats Polaris on power efficency, not to mention they have GTX 1080 and Titan X, Intel APU's easy rival those of AMD and Intel has Knights Landing to rival Fire Pros, same like Nvidia has it's next gen Teslas, RX480 makes cards like 390 / 390X obsolete, and i could not chose R9 FURY over GTX 1070 even as a AMD liker. Oh GTX 1060 just came out and it wins in Ashes Of The Singularity
( the important game ).
Only thing AMD now has to talk about is Doom, but i suppose not all people will know exactly what it has to do with Vulcan.

And ? they still managed to do better than before instead of going bankrupt.

No need to. just wait and watch. if anything this a positive sign for their future. it will only get better once they launch new products.

Their bad times are mostly gone.

Question is what would be considered competitive. Do we compare it to Kaby or Skylake as far as performance?

I am in the same boat, IF AMD can get back in the game then I feel that the CPU tech will start to move forward again. I mean, could you imagine something along the lines of what they have possibly proposed for Vega (multi GPUs on an interpose) for a CPU?

I will say right now I would be happy as long as Zen is in the close neighborhood of an Intel CPU. Would be great if if could beat it, but as long as they truly make headway into getting closer to par with an Intel CPU.

I already have my latest CPU set (Skylake) but for next build would really consider going AMD since I REALLY want to go the whole truly enthusiast class of CPU's (Broadweel-E, Haswell-E etc).

Well, even when they did everything wrong they somehow managed to increase revenue. Now imagine if they did everything something right for once.

Rx 460, Rx 470, new mobile apu ? and a deal with apple. zen is coming in 4-5 months although in a limited supply.

as i said, they managed to stay alive with nothing. their bad times are gone mostly.

Did Nvidia ever got a larger lead? Does Nvidia have no GTX 1050 in the works?
