Great deal for $65. I gamed for 3 years on the Soundblaster recon3d prof sound card and it made my logiterch 2.1 speakers sound amazing. This upgraded model has only gotten better. Anyways, I am an audiophile now myself so I am on higher end stuff, but I can't recommend this enough for the price point.

Cheers

This isnt the lowest price. It was around 50 dollars about 2 years ago. I had one but it was defective so had to return it. Regardless of that, at 65 its a decent price but its a great card when you get a good one.

I know, I have not seen it at $50 since then though, I think that was more of a promotional price since they were not selling.

Sorry you had a bad experience, my older model still runs fine on Windows 10, they always have kept up with drivers.

Yeah same here, have not seen it since although I have seen used but very good from Amazon at that price but not everyone wants to risk it lol.

I currently use an Asus Xonar DG and run a chain through the optical out to a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and a Caying C5 portable amp. Good set up IMO..

I don't like the coldness of the Schiit Modi 2, I have one as well and the treble always seems harsh to me compared to my other DAC's, but your setup may produce different results. I mainly made this topic for people with lower end 2.1 speaker setups, I used to own logitech 2.1 speakers and they sounded terrible until I added a nice sound card, my gaming immersion and music was enhanced tenfold after that.

Just thought I would try to help people out is all, lol.

I thought I would ask here since people seem to know their audio stuff. I have the Soundblaster Omni, which I love, and I was wondering if I can connect passive speakers to it. I mean is the Omni also an amplifier?

I have the onmi as well but i would not connect passive speakers to it. it doesnt not have any amplification beside whatever output via USB it uses.

No idea. As said before, two years ago I saw it at $50 but that was just the Z version, without the little dongle, thats why this one is called Zx. I haven't seen it on sale since, but you have 2.1 logitech or other "non-expensive bookshelf speaker setup" this will greatly improve your sound (don't forget to install latest drivers). also will make any of your headphones sound better.

You know, I just realized it's the Zx and not the Z, thats why I said I saw it for $50 2 years ago lol.

I honestly don't know how I missed that. Well I didnt open the link but.....sigh. Must have been very tired when I typed that comment.

Although I must say that there are conflicting reviews with that separate module when using headphones. Still dont know if its the module at fault or the Sound card itself. I guess its just a few bad lemons from earlier years from its release.

Either way, this is a good price for the ZX since normal price is around 120 dollars and seen it cheap as $90....

Plus the module would work out well since plugging or unplugging headphones from behind your PC is a bit annoying.
