Games running at max 23FPS in windowed mode

Hi,

I have lately had an issue with my PC where all games run very poorly in windowed or fullscreen-windowed mode.

I got a second monitor, so i like running in fullscreen-windowed mode to more easily do stuff while respawning or waiting in games.

If i have the PC focused on the game, its max 23fps, if i have the game running on monitor 1, while clicking on monitor 2, it runs at 30fps maximum.

Fullscreen games runs at normal 144hz maximum.

Main monitor has g-sync and runs at 2560x1440@144hz
Second monitor is 1440x2560@60hz

Tried adding a second gpu to run monitor 2, but didnt help any, other than to remove screen tearing on monitor 2.

Just now reinstalled windows to see if that helped, but its the exact same.

Anyone got any ideas to what i can try?

Does it do it with only 1 monitor connected? If not than it a multi monitor issue.

- I hate synthetic benchmarks however for a situation like this they are extremely useful. Run something like Firestrike and make sure your system is performing something close to what you would expect.

- Open up Task manager is your CPU or Ram getting Pinned?

- whats the temp of the GPU when running games (use something like EVGA Precision to check), overheating means she will be throttleing

- Also suggest re-seating your GPU paying special attention to the power connectors.

- What version of Nvidia display driver are you running?

Also list the games you are having issues with, I know Fallout 3 for example runs like balls in a Window mode.

Subbed. Interested to see what this ends up being. Seems to be some sort of power saving function being turned on.

It does appear to be running properly with one monitor.

It seems with 2 monitors, if i have a YouTube video or a gif running on the second monitor, the FPS on the main monitor will slow down to what is being played on the second monitor.

I had a YouTube video running at 1080p60, then the game FPS maxed at 60fps and was really laggy response on the mouse.

I then closed Chrome, and it was back to 144fps

With one monitor, i could have YouTube playing in the background with no issue.

This haven't been an issue before, but I'm not sure exactly when it started

Try installing the latest Beta drivers that were targetting the Pascal DPC latency issue. Your issue is also a multi-monitor one, + it has DPC issue (laggy response on mouse).
