[NextPowerUp] Windows 10 Warns About Chrome Battery Drain, Recommends Edge - Page 7

They're not wrong. Chrome is blindingly fast compared to other browsers but I'll only ever use it on a desktop because it's so resource hungry.

In my experience, laptops always seem to last longest when using their respective native browser. So my Macbook Air runs for way longer using Safari than if I'm using Firefox or Chrome, and Windows laptops I use last longer using Edge. Using Chrome also seems to make them hot as hell. I've not used Chromebooks yet, so I can't comment on whether or not Chrome is the best choice for it.

The same goes for running the laptop on the OS it was made for rather than anything else.

For some reason on my older AMD laptop chrome seems to choke it badly

its a quadcore with 8GB of ram and 500GB SSD but i mean some pages make it die with 100% cpu usage mad.gif

firefox on the same page is pretty smooth with only 60% or so.

sometimes im just having 10 tabs open or so and im hitting 7GB system memory :|

bit strange

on other laptop with arguably lower specs preforms fine with chrome.

chrome has been a mixed bag for me lately.

Except that webpage ads are very easy to block, windows forcefully installing skype and candycrush is a bit harder to deal with... I didn't buy an SSD to fill it with crap that I don't want and won't use.

I love when my MacBook randomly reminds me that chrome is draining my browser and I should use Safari.

Oh wait

If anyone could make Linux mainstream it would be Google.
