Bought this game on the last steam sale but have yet to D/L and play it. Heard it was really good so I think its going to be my next game to try.

Despite the internet fussing over the ending, I've recently re-played through Mass Effect 1 - 3 from start to finish and find it holds up amazingly well over time.

Dragon Age Origins and DA: Inquisition seem to remain solid upon re-play as well (I won't go near DA2, that thing is Daikatana level abysmal).

Both Metro 2033 & Last Light where pretty enjoyable played both games from start to finish when they came out without playing anything in between. But my all time favourite game is definitely Baldurs Gate that game may be old but it never gets old for me thumb.gif

Yeah the ME3 debacle goes back to what someone said earlier; play the DLC. Also the free Extended Cut DLC would have avoided much of that controversy had it been part of the game by default, since most gamers just wanted more closure.

Both DA:O and DA:I have some of the most replayability due to how much the plot and dialogue can change, plus a decent amount of playstyles/character builds. DA:O is BioWare's finest achievement I think.

I really enjoyed the Max Payne series. Especially the last one. I was f***in stoked to kick rear ends and take names on the corrupt Police station level. I was there man, I was there.

I also thought the first one had a surprisingly good story if you actually followed it.

Hopefully the two people kissed and made up regarding the last 3 page argument over TLOU. I thought it was really enjoyable, immersive with a good story. To be honest, I had to keep playing the game simply to keep braining people with lead pipes. No game has or ever will have a more satisfying bust-someone-upside-the-head with a pipe mechanic.

TLOU becomes a hot button topic most times. I liked it a lot

TLOU is a good story but not for everyone.

I'll add another BioWare game to the list;
Jade Empire

Some of my favorite immersive/story games?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
SOMA
Alan Wake
Telltale's Walking Dead
Deus Ex series
(minus that one game...)
Dragon Age series
Witcher series
Fallout: New Vegas

I'll throw in a couple of console games from back in the day that I thought had fantastic stories.

Jak II - Naughty Dog game from probably 2002ish, but man was it a good story, that after playing the first game was completely unexpected for me.
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies - It's a flight combat game from 2001 I think, but this I think was one of the first of those kinds of games to interweave a fantastic storyline, alternate version earth, atmosphere, and soundtrack that just made it click for me. You could easily miss the story in this game, but if you slow down and pay attention to it, it was fantastic.

Max payne 3 has some phenominal plot and narrative. Though 1+2 are dated so they're not exactly immersive. 3 is much better in that department. it's a whole lot like playing a movie...that happens to be film noir-esque.
