Need a New CPU to Run VR, Adobe, and More - Please Recommend

Thread Starter
So I bought an Oculus Rift and am now starting to get my list together for my next PC build. One thing I will need is a new CPU. I want a CPU that will help play games (including in VR) which started this whole process. Non-gaming related would be my desire to run Adobe Creative Suite butter smooth and I also hope to tinker with editing video and 3d animation/modeling.

Lastly, I intend to run things at least in 1440p or better.

So please recommend a processor that can do those things reasonably well.

Do you have a price limit? generally id recommend a I7 6700k, pretty much the best overall cpu if money isnt a huge factor, if you want cheaper id say I5 6600k would do you just fine too but no hyperthreading so some situations will be much lower in performance depends on program though, adobe would show a boost with the 6700k for big renders and such.

I would have to agree on the i7 6700k, with the possible exception of how deep into video editing/rendering you want to go the extra 2 cores from say a 5820k would benefit software of that type. But if it's merely to dabble with then the 6700k would suit you perfectly.
