My compuer is posessed

Thread Starter
So here is something that has me as confused as a hillbilly in an advanced calculus class. Whenever I work on my computer in BIOS settings, or configuring a bootloader (grub, lilo, clover) the connection to the internet stops working. Essentially a DNS resolution error for any other computer on my network.

My Network topology is ISP -> Cable Modem \ Router -> switches (netgear gigabit 8 port prosafe unmanaged) \ TP-Link WiFi AP -> client PC's

No matter where I move my computer, i.e. switch 1,2, or 3, the result is the same. No matter closest to to gateway, or furthest from. When I disconnect the the hard wire connection, all network traffic returns to normal. I have gone through network settings in router, and nothing appears out of the ordinary in my computers BIOS.

The obvious solution is for me to disconnect Ethernet, however the ghost in the machine has me confused and I tend to pit bull a problem that I don't understand until I do. Any one have any ideas? Im all ears.

Thank you

Check your routers DHCP settings, it could be telling the client computers that your PC is the primary DNS server, which can cause issues similar to what you have described (especially if your BIOS brings up the network card for any reason like netbooting).
