I'm pretty sure about the fan speed. I already took the fans out of my case, but here's an example of one I pulled back out of a box at random just now.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
35% in bios:

~740 RPM in bios:

~740 RPM in HWMonitor:

The oscillating sound is only in the vertical orientation:

Not when positioned horizontally:

It's much worse when you add a bit of impedance to the fan by holding a radiator to it, or even a book or your hand for a quick test. The worst offender was the pull fan in a push/pull configuration on an h55 radiator for my gpu. Testing the RPMs of the push and pull fans showed a difference of less than 50 RPM with the pull fan being slightly slower. It sounded like someone whistling softly in a modulated kind of way.

Anyway, I hope you guys identify the issue, and I included some of these notes in the RMA ticket.

Very interesting, thank you for this information. I'll be sure to pass this along to our cooling team for them to investigate. I've been looking around on other forums to see if others have this issue, I've only seen 2 so far including yours. Most of the ML users that I ran into are very satisfied with them. So I'm hoping that these are just bad fans to begin with and nothing more.

Let me know if the replacement exhibits the same behavior. Keep me posted

I don't understand the point of the ML120/140 Pros. Yes, they have replaceable rubber corners, but unlike the SP120 which includes the colored rings, the ML series do not. That means if you want to use different rubber corners, you'd have to purchase the LED fans. Why would anyone pay full price for the LED fans just for the rubber corners?

Corsair doesn't even sell the corners as an accessory for the ML Pros so it just seems really odd on their part to not include replaceable corners by default.

I know what you mean. I wanted them to include all the corners in the box at that price but (a) turns out they take a really long time to mold and probably why there is a supply shortage at the moment, and (b) once pricing goes down as supply increases they will also be able to sell the corners separately which at a lower price may not justify inclusion. Vicious circle of sorts, but the consumer gets affected.

We're working on it, so those colored corners will be available as a spare part eventually.

Not a problem at all. I just want to make sure that we provide this community assistance when needed smile.gif

I think I helped you out with your PSU RMA over at OcUK right?

Yes you did. thumb.gif
We had a few hick-ups getting it all sorted, but the replacement PSUs are quiet and work well.

It is obvious you and I assume others at Corsair are working hard to improve customer support. I know how hard it is to 'teach old dogs new tricks' and I'm sure there are some staff that don't want their smooth operation to be disturbed by customer needs. biggrin.gif

If ever I can help you in any way, please let me know.

So after waiting almost 3 weeks for the fans to ship (due to limited supply) it seems I got a defective 140mm and now I have to wait another 3 weeks for a replacement. I mean this is not normal, right? Video attached below. When I unplug the fan, the sound goes away. I'm using a 2-way splitter since my board doesn't have enough built in PWM fan headers, but I've tested it with a direct connection to the header as well. At this point, I'm not even sure what "quiet" means because at ~600 RPM it's pretty audible if I have no music or anything in the background, but I got it more for aesthetics.

I'm running 1 ML120 Pro as a rear exhaust, 2x ML120 as a top exhaust, and the 2 ML140s as front intake.

I hope the QC on these fans get better, based on its premium price point.

That definitely sounds bad. How are the others doing? You say "it" is pretty audible at ~600 RPM but not sure which you are referring to.

I meant overall noise from the system (excluding the defective fan) but I'm coming from an NZXT H440 case which was on the ground whereas this is on a shelf next to me, so maybe that's why.

I suggest you PM @Corsair Joseph He is very good at helping with these things. I'm not a Corsair lover by any means, but Joseph helped me resolve a long term problem I had, and he has help many others as well. He has renewed my poor faith in Corsair. wink.gif
