[EuroGamer] Nintendo NX is a portable console with detachable controllers + powered by Nvidia Tegra technology - Page 3

The NX is rumored to be handheld tablet masquerading as hybrid home console? Me no likey. It would confirm one of the nintendo devs saying the new Zelda would have the same experience on both NX and WiiU. Powerwise, it might be the same. Imagine Nintendo charging $300 for this? Ugh.

The return of pokemon Colosseum, combined with gameplay more similar to the handheld games.

Nintendo charging $300 for a console that is both portable yet can also be a home system, basically what sony was trying to do with the vita, but with actual effort put into it? Seems fair.

I know right? Pokemon deserves a good platform for a deeper experience!

They should have just called it a 3DX. Because its sounding like a direct follow up to the 3DS with an option hooking it up to a tv. Groundbreaking. OMG! rolleyes.gif They cant afford to experiment and play around. If this bombs like the Pii U. They only have themselves to blame. They simply don't get it and will always do as they please.

Heard that the dock could improve the visuals but is it possible without straining the portable parts with excess heat and power draw? Would the screen survive the heat generated in console mode?

i forsee a NX TV version without a screen in a bargain bin soon.

nintendo actually *can* afford to play around and experiment. They have plenty of money in the bank. Even the wii u made money in the end.

the one thing that would come out of this si the fact that in a unified system, 1st party software droughts would be non-existant. Basically there should be a new game coming out every month or 2. You get a compromise on certain titles, e.g you can now play pokemon on the big screen (which was in concept like the game boy player for the gamecube, and the n64 gameboy player on the n64). Major titles like Monster Hunter would get a proper home console version (MH3U was a bad WiiU port, inconsistent framerate that jumps between 20-60, with like 37 average). Where on the flipside, mobile audience could play a proper Zelda title that isn't overhead and not a remake.

The console itself IMO can work really well in the Japanese market, but how well it works in the western market is a different story. I'm keeping my thoughts still on skeptical mode until its official.

If nintendo can add a functionality such that when docked, the tegra CPU clocks higher, it'd be nice to help prevent any framedropping in console mode.

edit: Also, do keep in mind that albeit we know how much tegra perform in tasks. Just know that if a game got a proper low level access to hardware like consoles does, more performance would be extracted out of the chip.

Haha, I've bought pretty much every handheld since GBP just to play pokemon. That's pretty much the only game I play on those handhelds.

So a handheld with a TV docking station, not really a home console.

The X1 clocks in at 1.0 TFLOP so even if they use that they'll be right around XB1 performance as rumored (are there any rumors on X2's performance?).

Surprisingly I'm not really interested but I'll wait and see.
