Unless they think that they're sitting on half a dozen of the most valuable IP's in entertainment history, and that with about a third of humanity using handheld devices daily, convincing just a small percentage of those people to add Nintendo into their lives would mean interacting with numbers of people far beyond any traditional gaming platform.

Gamecube has proven that doesn't work.

oh lord the FACEPALM, biggrin.gif.... Gamecube failed because of its VERY small capacity Disc format they used at the time everyone else was using dvd with 4.5 gigs or 9 with double layer Nintendo used a 1.5 GIG mini dvd, and the devolpers were NOT happy with the small storage size, which resulted in VERY low 3rd party support/sluggish sales any questions?.....thumb.gif

Um, No. Nintendo's third party relationship had a problem dating back to their N64 days. Low 3rd party support has almost nothing to do with that low capacity discs when not many games really filled up that 4.5G DVD and you can simply have multiple disks when you need more.

Nintendo could have released Wii U without tablet controller and matched MS's specs and might have sold little more units but wouldn't have changed their market position. There is not that much room for 3rd party support for 3rd console. I don't think Nintendo can compete playing Sony/MS's own game and they know that.
That is why they are playing high risk/high return radical approach.

I'm in of it dual boots android or is otherwise android store compatible.

so will this make lots of money for Nvidia ? or not because low margins in console business ?

maybe you should research what people actually want from a Nintendo gaming device. everyone already has gaming PCs, PS4s, XboxOnes, they don't want another samey box that play same 3rd party games already available on these 3 current platforms. people want something different, and Nintendo will do different. merging their handheld and home console into one device is the best decision they made in years.
