For games like Witcher, Battlefield, etc., I can play them on my PC. I don't need an Xbone or PS4 for those games.

Liking Nintendo games doesn't mean you don't like or won't play the aforementioned "AAA" games.

Do you buy the console & the games..? Recently?

Was that Nintendo system your first choice? Do you have either an Xbox, or PlayStation... & wouldnt those consoles be equally worth your time. Are the other factors that influenced your decision for the Nintendo console, over another..? Children, roommate, gift card, price, etc..?

My over-all question wasn't that you "liked" those games, but why play them...  when there are better ones out there (for your time). From my understanding, it is because many people just don't care what they do with their time, thus the time spent on such remedial games (such as found within the Nintendo'verse) & my point is wasted on you. Because to you, Nintendo is time worth wasting.

ed: I understand wanting to play a certain game series throughout it's 30+ year history. It was a logic vs nostalgia question. If you have the means to add a new Nintendo NX to your collection of consoles, then my point is made. but, as your sole console...  ?

I don't know how else to read that. Same experience means same experience.

I have owned every Nintendo console since release day, or almost immediately after release, since the NES. As a grown ass man, lucky to have success above average, I will continue to do so until Nintendo gives me reason otherwise. The attitude in this thread toward Nintendo, and people who enjoy their games, is pretty offensive.

To act like Nintendo fans are less of gamers, please!! I was gaming before many of you people were even a dribble down your parents beds sheets.

Directly answering your condescending as Hell question about "Why play?"; Because it is fun! Why the Hell do you do anything for fun?

Why do I SCUBA? Why do I game? Why do I fish? Why do I travel? Why do I camp? Why do I work on my 69 Camaro? Because it is fun, it is my time, and it is my money, and that is what I want to do. The exact same reason anyone else with a hobby has a right to have that hobby.....

Step off.

EDIT:

I also want to point this one part out, because it is cute.

Nintendo is known for some of the most difficult and complex puzzles and problems in gaming. Period.

Further, trying to act like any type of gaming isn't a waste of time is stupid. It is completely stupid to think that playing a less "remedial" game is any less of a time waste than picking your nose, or drawing lines in MS Paint for all that matters.

It isn't just difficulty and complexity, Nintendo understands game design better than any other developer on the market. They made a science out of the difficulty curve long ago, something that modern developers commonly forget about entirely.
They still produce games with the "release once" mindset, which is practically non-existent in the rest of the industry.
Finding a glitch in a Zelda game is practically celebrated because they're so rare.
I have absolutely no doubt that Nintendo is the best video game developer in the industry today, bar none.

Storytelling? Graphics? Not so much, but those things are secondary to the medium.
I can get better stories from a book, I can get prettier graphics from a movie, games are the one medium that is founded on the principle of introducing concepts and then honing and modifying those concepts in logical patterns. That should describe everything you do in a game, not just a few components of the experience.
At it's core, a game is a nural pathway builder, and that's what Nintendo excels at. In today's market, you will not find better games anywhere else.

Same here except for the Wii U rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I never got why "gamers" don't think Nintendo games are "real" games. They're fun and simple with mechanics more complex than they look.

How do you define "better"? What makes you think your perception of a "better" game is the same as someone else's? You're acting as if today's AAA action games are logically and indisputably better than a Mario or Zelda game, but it's akin to saying that one genre of music is better than another. Logic has no place in either preference. It's about the experience sought by the end user, but I doubt you'd understand that as your posts absolutely reek of egocentrism.

I'd recommend not feeding the troll.

Hell some people have $5k rigs and spend all their time playing Minecraft! Graphics alone do not determine what games are "worth your time" for God sake! While I usually do place a lot of importance on graphics (I personally hate Minecraft for instance) there is no objective way to claim that any game is "better" than another; its all down to personal preference. My favorite game of all time is Windwaker, a game that is faaaaaaaaaaar inferior to the current PC games on the market in terms of graphics yet it is still a better GAME than any of them (at least to me)! thumb.gif

Everyone remember seeing this video. It was supposedly shown behind closed doors at E3 2015. If that video was true kind of makes sense now. Well it's all rumours still but i kind of like this.
