They need to ditch the handheld and get with the times, Smart phones is what Nin should be focusing on in that regards.

i have a feeling this hybrid will sell like hot cakes. I think it will sell more then the Wii did. Cant wait to play some pokemon games at home and on the go.

No kidding. Would love to be able to play the pokemon games on big screen and still on the go. Though, they need to make a new pokemon stadium.

.....good god no. Then it be a P2W free to download piece of junk.

And Nintendo been making games on tablets and smartphones, but god they are so shallow as a rain puddle. mad.gif

I rather have a cartridge and one full price for a full game with depth.

I agree with this, I would actually prefer a better solution for a handheld rather than use my cellphone. I would like to see a very solid handheld with either download capability or cartridge use for much better titles and more specifically Pokemon.

Either way, I'm interested. I typically have nintendo+one of the big guys, but I skipped the wii u after nintendo dropped the ball on games. Perhaps nintendo has learned their lesson with the NX.

Seeing as there haven't been many games launched on the Wii U (by Nintendo) in the last 2 years they are likely going to have a strong launch lineup. As far as I can tell retro studios hasn't announced the game they are working on. Not to mention that there hasn't been a Mario game since 3d world. Pikmin 4 hopefully is a thing too (as that was supposedly close to finished late last year - hopefully they weren't talking about that abomination that is Pikmin 3DS)

Nintendo also has a patent referring to a box that can be linked to a console to provide additional performance. So we could theoretically see a upgrade box released in a couple of years.

I still want Nintendo to make a cellphone.

I know the "gaming oriented phones don't sell" argument is always the response, but at the very least we haven't seen anyone try for a few years, and we've certainly never seen anything with dedicated support from someone like Nintendo.
(Sony's PlayStation Mobile was a joke)

More than anything I wish a mobile OS could be tailored for game integration.
We could have Animal Crossing items or encounters based around real life phone calls.
We should be getting points for a game somewhere every time you read an e-mail.

For Nintendo to make a good cell phone, it would require a pretty big shift in their modus operandi. They're pretty keen on having tight control over their products and being as family friendly as possible.
Take this move for instance: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/11/nintendo_disables_swapnotes_spotpass_service_due_to_online_safety_concerns

I hope they give some power to the console. If they just match the old PS4 three and a half years later, it's a no go for me.
The weirdest thing about this whole situation is that if you look at the local market, Nintendo is absolutely on the right track.

In Japan, the PS4 has not outsold the Wii U (yet)...
http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/07/13/ps4-sales-in-japan-reach-three-million-milestone/

And the Wii U hasn't really even been available for the last few months.
https://mynintendonews.com/2016/03/04/japan-wii-u-stock-shortage-caused-by-nintendo-restricting-supplies-to-avoid-unsold-inventory/

By the end of 2015 the 3DS sold 20 million units in Japan.
http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/12/30/nintendo-3ds-japan-sales/

I think it's safe to say that anything Nintendo releases now is going to absolutely dominate in their home market. And quite frankly, I love it. One of the best things about Nintendo has always been their connection with Japanese culture. If they're making something that especially appeals in their home market, that's just something else that makes it unique.

When nearly every game on the market is basically identical across all three primary platforms, I could use some variety.

Never noticed this thread, I think.

The fact that Eurogamer posted an article and related videos on it lends credence to the rumors.

If this really has a larger than normal screen with a resolution relevant to this decade and doesn't rely on gimmicks, I can see this being great for Nintendo in the mobile department. Simply not relying on gimmicks is enough for the console aspect to excel.
