24 pin not long enough, new PSU

The placement of the 24 pin coming out of the PSU is different than my current PSU causing it to be too short to comfortably attach the cable to the motherboard. Same goes with the 8 pin CPU cables. I can manage the 8 pins with some sub optimal routing but the 24 pin I am not going to bend and abuse. I already have two 8 pin extension connectors and am thinking about one for the 24 pin. How do extension cable effect the overclocking of the CPU?

Provided you have a good PSU, the added resistance shouldn't be noticeable in the least bit.

Cool. I just upgraded from an Enermax Revo 950s Silver rating, to an EVGA Supernova T2 Titanium 1000w. Sounds like overkill but my gaming rig idles at 200w, and the Supernova is 93% efficient at that pull, with even better ripple suppression 9mV max on the 12v rail, and better regulation.. I think it doesn't drop at all on the 12v from 117w to 500w, stays at 12.10

Yeah, I don't worry about efficiency anymore for overkill PSUs. I just worry about people throwing money away that they could've used on something else. lol Today's good PSUs don't really have much of a problem with dropped efficiency when they're set up as an extremely overkill PSU.

 

Anyway, yeah, the G2/P2/T2 series is pretty high-end. So, go for it. You should be all set after that.

lol thanks, it always irk'ed me that I could of gotten a better PSU back then, I pretty much became an efficiency, ripple, and regulation nut right after I bought two 950w Enermax PSU's in 09' lol

Yeah and I'm just a nut for just makin' sure that like, the PSU is good enough to handle overclocking and gaming. If it's not, then I have to pass it up and recommend something else because my conscience would bother me if I were to compromise - unless I'm being asked to compromise, then it's ok. Even then, I'm like, "aaarrrghhhh no I can't compromise!" lol

 

I see you caught the hopefully-funnier version of my post because you laughed. :) It was funnier when I thought it up and then I was like, "no I can't leave it like that" lol Something about the way I'm feeling (lack of sleep, feelin' kinda loose and wacky) made me want to say that.

Back then I didn't know much about PSUs, some say my current PSU is still suitable which I believe it is but the upgrade bug zapped me. I've been waiting for a new GPU but a PSU query got me looking at reviews and BAAM! 250$ later, lol

Yeah totally cool. My PSU nerdism is too strong to be shooken, lol I just got to work around the cable lengths. Funny I looked and compared both PSUs and the EVGA had longer cables but i didn't realize the placement on the PSU itself would make such a big difference.. now it''s making me look at my spare computer cases, lol

What would you rather do, run 1 split 6 pin VGA cable to a GTX 670 with two 6 pin connecting points, or run 2 VGA connectors one for each 6 pin on the GPU???
