Microsoft is turning local searches into on-line searches. It's a first step into getting metadata from your local files. And you are providing it to them willingly. Of course people who read tech sites know better, but it's a miserable thing they are doing to regular users.

I don't understand how you and others still don't get it. How many more progressive moves in the same direction by Microsoft do you need to start seeing the big picture? Aren't the changes to remove Policy Editor choices in the Pro version enough?

Its not that I don't get it, its that I don't care and am totally fine with web results showing up as well as local results. I just don't see it as a problem at all and it can sometimes be useful to not have to open a browser and go to a search engine when I want to find some info from the web. The thing I don't like is all the hyperbole you attach to every MS and Win10 feature/policy. MS is not the SS coming to bust your door down and drag you off to the gestapo, get real. They are a big company that has identified a major market shift in their main product and are attempting to find different ways of making an OS profitable as the old way of selling Windows is just not going to keep them afloat in this day and age.

I would also add that I still don't see what difference it makes to you and the others in these threads what MS does with Win10 considering you have stated so many times that you refuse to ever use it. They could openly admit to turning on your web cam and watching you sleep at night and it shouldn't matter to you because have been quite clear you will never use Win10...

Obviously not for the people complaining in this thread but for MS, absolutely. I just don't feel any motivation to get all worked up about any of this stuff because I don't care. Win10 works great for me and that's really all that i care about. Its the same reason I don't care about what Google is doing with Android on my Note 5. I don't make any silly distinctions between a PC OS and a phone OS, its all the same thing. I would bet that 95% of the public don't care about this stuff either...

After spending some time trying to get W7 to work on Skylake, and after eventually getting it to be somewhat stable, I ended up biting the bullet and reluctantly went back to W10. It definitely has its improvements, some less evident until you switch back and forth, I just wish they'd release a version that keeps these 'features' as choices... Like instead of dumbing down the entire platform and forcing us all use Cortana and be datamined, why not release a no frills "power user" edition for an extra 100 bucks or so that leaves us with the choices of what we want (or don't want, for that matter) on our OS? If they did that, it'd be the first time I actually buy a Windows OS in 15+ years, and I'd actually support MS with a smile on my face.

I guess forcing ads for everyone (or datamining us like commodities) is their cheeky way of battling piracy, in the end.

Ha ha
Got an I5-6600K that apparently shall be one of the Skylake processors.
Was sure the Skylake was something coming for next year biggrin.gif

When first heard that Win7 wouldn't get support for Skylake CPU's. My first thought was that I Will not buy anything Intel Skylake then.

Seems like the motherboard maker ASUS (Maximus VIII Genie) and Intel have Skylake drivers for Win7. Because the I5-6600K runs perfectly good with my Win7 game-rig at a 22% overclock (according to some ASUS ROG thingies).

Bought the I5-6600K as it fitted my new motherboard and my wallet, changed motherboard to get a mATX with SLI,

I just upgraded from Win8.1 to 10 in a little bit over a week ago. I can still go back to Win 8.1...is my key still valid?

I may keep Win10 in my laptop but 8.1 is the way to go it seems.smile.gif

Seeing how you have an i7-6900K, you seem to like to stay up to date with Intel's CPUs. In that case, Win10 is the way to go, because nothing older will work with new Intel CPUs.

It worked very well until I upgraded. smile.gif Also, Intel processors/chipsets are not really OS dependent.
