[Various] Cortana can no longer be turned off after Anniversary Update - Page 24

I wonder if the next step is employers buying the information MS gathers from their employee's personal computers. They already collect social media, and if MS can get people to shrug and not care about their info being sold for advertising...

I have upgraded to anniversary and Cortana did not appear next to the start menu. I had removed it before anniversary upgrade and noting have changed after I upgraded.

It seems that many are trying hard to make windows 10 look bad

I'm definitely not using this Win Spy rubbish as my main OS.

you and me both, win10 is for modern games, win7 home premium is my main OS. i just rectified that last night...took a few hours to get everything set up!

uhmm who cares? don't use it. I don't get why people need to get worked up about any of this. worried about a little app hogging resources? I see all your computers have overclocked 8 cores, 32gb+ of ram etc. don't worry about it you won't even feel it lol. windows 10 works. edge now has extensions that's all I care about.

Ever heard of privacy? If not then you have no idea why we get worked up over Win Spy.

Then after 4 years when windows 7 doesn't have patch anymore you just fail the computer away?

Yes, because the day Win 7 is no longer supported the OS simply cease to function

I could ask why you care about people caring about a app which they may not want to be active. Way you word yourself makes it seem yer against people being able to have choices.
People make compromisses and try to chose, where they can. Id bet $1000 a significant amount of pcs will change from Windows to Linux/Osx if latter two received as much or close to attention as windows when it came to gaming development. And the migritation would happen because of people being able to have more freedom to chose.

Currently DX12 limits OS choice to only 12, so W7 is neglected too. Thats understandable from a business perspective but not from consumer one, and who knows what key companies invested with DirectX could do to possible stop Vulkan api, an api that can give more freedom to consumers if devs bother to do some more work.

I never used Cortana. That does not mean im against it existing though...

Uh, mine's off permanently. I filled the control file with gibberish and locked the file then added a program to flag it if it changes.
