Appreciate the responses. I find in the summer months that the size and power consumption, especially on quiet mode, of the 480 is very attractive. Im itching to get one. My ac is a power vacuum, so any means to lower the overall room electricity usage is a good thing for my situation.

Well they're in demand but due to DPC latency issue and consequential stuttering, Nvidia is also stuttering (struggling) to fulfill orders. Should be here next year though tongue.gif

Just to add to this though, I've heard rumors that Nvidia are replacing the 1080's in their office with the RX480's. They feel they are a better investment.

AMD cards often have more raw compute power, and OpenCL is easier to program for mining than CUDA.

I think AMD want's to sell all the cards. Not Just RX 480. In new API Fury destroys any 980Ti.
GTX 1070 on the other hand is priced same as Fury ( not x ). thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Here in EU the prices of previous generations of cards don't drop because retailers are greedy and lazy to adjust pricing. Fury costs more than 1070 lol
Used 280x from a retailer, such as open box, returned cards etc. in who knows what state are sold at almost new prices, that's a very old card and RX 480 launch at similar prices now.

In US they are lucky and can get decent deals on previous generation and used cards but elsewhere it's a nightmare.

Here a 980ti still cost 550,- euro !

Retailers wont lower price, they just put the 1080 at an even higher price to make it look ok'ish

GTX970 = 289,- euro
GTX1060 = 299,- euro (not that you can buy it though)(in stock for 369,- !)
GTX980 = 449,- euro
GTX1070 = 469,- euro
GTX980ti = 549,- euro
GTX1080 = 699,- euro

Retailers rather collect dust on there cards and throw them away after a few years then actually sell them at a lower price.
Same goes with AMD cards.

MSI's 1060 is just $279 at newegg!!! In stock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20601203818%20601210955%208000&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&page=1

Powercolor's Devil 480 is out of stock and it's $279 as well. Out of all the 480's and 1060's on newegg, only two versions of the 1060 are in stock.

Right now the choice is easy... 1060. But, if I were in the marker for a new card, I'd wait for more Vulcan and DX12 benches to come out--AMD is looking good in that department.
