Few in stock on newegg right now..

I got the zotac mini.. probably gonna sound like a jet at OC but it was $370 AUD... cheaper than I could get a reference 480 so it was a no brainer for me.

Question though, I had thought the raw data of the 14nm process node vs TSMC's 16nm node showed that the Samsung process had a bit of an advantage in switching speed and either leakage or standard voltage or something. So wouldnt Pascal have a frequency issue as well if it is on a slightly inferior process? Im just thinking, if Pascal gains 500MHz on the new node with a somewhat similar arch, then Polaris with a somewhat similar arch should also be expected to gain a similar amount on a slightly better node no? I realize reltionships like that are not identical and we shouldnt compare one arch to another, but it just seems weird that is TSMC is a bit worse like so many claimed that it would gain so much speed while Polaris does not.

Absolutely disgusting heatsink on that Zotac Mini model though. That seems like it is why the card has stayed in stock this whole time to me.

It's an Nvidia game... the Fury X is below the 980, or do you think that's normal? Shoot even the 295x2 is below the GTX 1060.

Look at the GTA V benchmarks. The AMD R9 Nano which costs $560 only gets two more FPS than the Nitro. And the $430 Fury X is only one FPS higher than that.

How can you complain?
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

GTA V is a poor title to use to get a good idea of performance, it's not an Nvidia title but it was definitely better optimized for them, doesn't seem to take advantage of the higher-class cards that much.

Or do you think a 970 should be in the Fury X-class camp usually? tongue.gif

The 1060 nearly matching a 980Ti is very interesting though, I'm not a programmer so i don't know, but does anyone know if it's possible for code to be tailored/favor high clock speeds?

There's a few titles that give me that impression, might just be wearing a Tinfoil hat though. redface.gif

And Hitman is a AMD game, yet I can guarantee you that more people play GTA V and it's more relevant as far as tests go to more people. I don't care if a game is amd or nvidia based, I just care how a particular card performs on the games I actually play. That said, overall the 1060 is faster in more games at 1080p regardless.

It sure is, but for the price it was that or a more expensive 4gb reference 480.

Besides zotac are awesome with warranty and allow you to change cooler without voiding it so that is a major win.
And after coming from a 290x as my last card I'm sure the noise won't bother me much at all lol.

GTA V is a CPU heavy game. Any CPU overhead issues that AMD already has under DX11's outdated draw call system is intensified in GTA V. The cards are not being used to their full potential in it. Not even close.

I'm not calling you biased or anything, I just don't see the need for disappointment and yes the 1060 is almost always faster.

I use an AMD card on the most Nvidia biased game I know, World of Warcraft (pretty much the only PC game I play).

Good stuff. So in the end this is a midrange card that acts like a midrange card...even when overclocked? Who knew wink.gif
Odd that some think this is some sort of enthusiast level card poke.gif. You just have to wait for Vega thumb.gif

But all in all good results for the Sapphire RX NItro+ 480.

Not quite the Sapphire card but here's an alert from nowinstock:

Newegg just received a shipment of MSI Radeon RX 480 8G cards. I just purchased one as soon as the alert came in. Hurry, order now...
