I use an AMD card on the most Nvidia biased game I know, World of Warcraft (pretty much the only PC game I play).

I guess coming from a pretty much 3 year old 290x I was hoping with a node shrink they'd have slightly better than 980 performance combined with a good deal power consumption OR at the very least can oc well. Sadly, it doesn't offer any of those. A 290x/390x will beat out oc'ed 480's easy especially as the res goes up..

Or do you think a 970 should be in the Fury X-class camp usually? tongue.gif

The 1060 nearly matching a 980Ti is very interesting though, I'm not a programmer so i don't know, but does anyone know if it's possible for code to be tailored/favor high clock speeds?

There's a few titles that give me that impression, might just be wearing a Tinfoil hat though. redface.gif

On the contrary, an Nvidia optimized game IS a good source to use to benchmark a competitor's card because then you can see the performance you'll get with a non-optimized game.

Let's take another game as an example: Dirt Rally: The GTX 980 isn't that much faster and costs at least $100 more, but I'm not basing Nvidia, just showing that when not being overly concerned with overclocking, you definitely are getting what you pay for, and then some.

What i find so strange (and this happened with previous generation cards to) is that people say "it only OC's for 3,5% !!

How come that everytime when we talk about OC on AMD cards people look at base clock out of the box including max boost speed and how much you can OC that instead of looking at reference base clock without boost speed like everyone does with Nvidia.

Basicly everyone says a 980ti can OC for 30~40%, because here they do look at reference base clock without boost.
Yet my 980ti boost to 1392mhz out of the box and can only OC to 1450mhz.
Now people do this with 1070/1080 to but still AMD overclocks can only be calculated by out of the box max boost speed ? (Factory OC included wich you cant include when its a Nvidia card)
A 1080 can boost to like 1890mhz stock yet we look at OC's from 1733 or even the base of 1600mhz, on average they run 2050mhz overclocked.
1890mhz to 2050mhz is an amazing overclock all of the sudden ?
Its only like 7~8%

RX480 base clock is 1120mhz so why dont we calculate OC percentages based on that like everyone does with Nvidia cards ? ( not that i think you should, should look at max boost clock IMO)
Boost out of box is 1266mhz.
1266mhz to 1390mhz is how many % ?
More then the 7~8% Nvidia cards do !

By these wierd standards people are using by default AMD cards will always be poor overclockers.

Offcourse everyone will say i am wrong but when i use the same method with Nvidia cards people say i am wrong to. (and wrong again when i use Nvidia so called method on AMD cards)
Why cant OC percentages be calculated the same way no matter if its Nvidia or AMD ?

Nah your only here to troll/derail etc etc.

Remember the DPC latency thread where you refused to put a screenshot up of your so called card that so called didnt have any stutters or what so ever (yes you said it spiked up to 500us but never any proof)
Then as soon as Nvidia came out with a hotfix you had to post a screenshot..... double standards much ?

Why arent you a member of the 1080club yet ?
Hard time proofing you actually have one ?

It's too bad I can't give you REP. I love it when people point out double standards.

nVidia is held to be the God of Gods, no matter how bad they do. In that regard it skews the perception, even among tech websites. The bad things are not really that bad, and the ok things are great, and the good things are extraordinarily amazing beyond measure.
At the same time AMD is assumed to be the devil incarnate, no matter how great they do. The bad things are the end of the world, the ok things are extremely bad, and the good things are simply normal things that will be neglected or beat by nVidia within less than a year...

It's a double standard that really pisses me off, much like many other double standards in society. And when it's pointed out, people get mad and start calling people names...
