I don't know how good it is, but Amazon and NewEgg recently featured "refurbished" (used) Toshiba and HGST enterprise 2TB hard drives for about $30. Considering that brand new 2TB drives are often $60-80, I don't know if I'd chance it.

I would stay the heck away from Amazon for buying bare HDDs of any kind. Amazon has been doing a piddle poor job of packing pretty much everything the past year. Adding insult to injury, Amazon's new carrier, Amazon Logistics (AMZL), has had a horrible track record for mishandling packages.

Newegg, on the other hand, has a special thick walled tubular bubble-wrap envelope they put their bare drives into that then fits snuggly in a box for shipping. If one is ordering more than just two or three drives, Newegg will put the individual boxes into a larger box and use more empty smaller boxes to fill the remaining space in the larger box. It is a very secure method of packing bare HDDs for shipping, the best I've seen so far.

I will just sneak in to this thread:

Does anybody has experience with https://www.alternate.co.uk/html/index.html ?
I would like to buy from them few HGST hard drives, but I am doing some research before buying.

Thanks,
Bobi
