I honestly don't think you will notice a performance difference without a backplate. Being underwater alone will be awesome so thanks to EK for rushing the waterblocks! It's a shame they dropped the ball on the backplates tho...would have been above and beyond if they had even one backplate available for shipping with the waterblock. frown.gif

I only live dangerously like that when its just a single simple swap out. (like pulling my old GPU's out to put the new GPU's in while waiting for the water blocks).

Once the new blocks come in I'll do a full tear down and then it will be surgery mode tongue.gif

Also I won't need a protection for the back of the card as it will be positioned horizontally in my Core P3 case. As for the overclocking... I would try to achieve 2Ghz GPU and 11Ghz mem and may be this is considered as serious overclocking for this card so 5 degrees less on the VRM and memory could be worth it?

Honestly unless you plan to hard mod the card to bypass the built in voltage cap, you won't even come close to being thermally capped on anything, backplate or no.

No backplate, and your VRM might hit 60 C with modded bios to max out your voltage and overclocked as high as you can without crashing, with it maybe 55 C. You won't throttle or fry your VRM until about 120 C if I recall.

Would I be able to cancel my old order of just 2 blocks, and re-order everything on 1 order?

Preordered Nickel/Plexi and black back plate (wanted Nickel but those don't have an ETA, so black works too smile.gif). This is my first Nickel/Plexi... I have always gone Acetyl. I am looking forward to it, that is one sweet looking block!.

And as far as the delays, to be fair to EKWB, it isn't like they had a bunch of warning (assuming NVidia kept them in the dark like everyone else), and a bunch of lead time with a card or two to engineer and test with. And this might possibly be the highest number of GPUs (Reference and AIB) to come out in the shortest period of time ever in the history of the universe, so I would assume that doesn't help.

When I heard about the new Titan, and THEN heard that it would be available in only 12 calendar days I was ecstatic! This card came out of nowhere, and was available to buy pretty darn quick. I received mine on July 22nd, and it will be sitting the in box until the WB and back plate get here. Not ideal, but I would rather the overworked EKWB staff had some breaks and beers somewhere between getting out all of these new products... even if it takes a bit longer... and have them get it right. Burning out the staff leads to the talent quitting and/or mistakes being made. Not worth it.

Damn I really wanted the Nickel backplate! How much longer will that take to release than the black?

Ships Aug 29th though.... I don't understand how EK was able to push out the blocks so fast yet these backplates are taking FOREVER.

Now the backplate shows "ready for assembly" i got excited but when i add to the cart it still says 8/29th ship date at checkout. What does ready to assmeble status signify?

Out of stock but they'll manufacture the item on short notice.

So first time installing a water block on my graphics card, I purchased the EK block for my Titan X. Have we already came to the conclusion that the OEM back plate will not work with the EK block? I need to decide if I want to order the EK back plate and put the build on a hold a little longer till it all comes in.
