Titan X Pascal Waterblock release date expectations - Page 26

I had the weekend to game quite a bit. With the EK block it never fell below 2050mhz core. The memory overclock seems to cause a fallback to 2050 from 2100 though. I can live with that though. 2050 mhz on this card provides astonishing performance levels.
The EK block works as it did onmy Fury X and the R9 290 before. It is brilliant. Highest temp so far: 42 degrees celsius and I even used the provided thermal compound (used it on the fury X and found out that it is good enough).
I did however do the shunt mod on two resistors for a better powertarget.

I admit that the thought has crossed my mind too, and they are going for $1500+... but for me I appreciated every frame of the additional fps from my current Titan (3440x1140@100Hz, settings maxed on AAA games is my thing)... and in some cases I was only getting 30-45 fps, so looking forward to what this card can do. If I were to install a 6950x though, it would be a waste for me...

Wait, I just saw the system in your sig... are you being facetious? Jokes like this fly right over my head sometimes.

My EK order just updated. It is still in Slovenia right now, but says my block and back plate will be delivered to my house on Wednesday (man that's fast!). So in my case EK was a week early on the back plate, thanks EK!!

I updated the signature rig with TXP because I was intending to install them this weekend without the backplate but got super lazy and gamed the whole weekend almost. I still have 2x TXM on there and everything ran fine slightly sluggish except MSAA turned off on GTA5. I keep wondering if I can max everything out though with 4K using those two TXPs with all AAs maxed but that curiosity is going to cost me close to $3,000 but at least I can stop drooling on the reviews/posted benchmarks.

When did you order your block and backplate? I thought I ordered mine early 8/9/2016 but no word on shipping yet. When I look at the backplate it's still preorder mode.

OIh sorry, I wasn't referring to the Titan Xs in your sig (or at least not *just* the Titans), but kind of your whole rig... 6950X especially. You have got TOTL everything, and 6950X particularly makes me think of overkill, unless you do after affects editing, rendering, and that kind of stuff (or play Arma smile.gif). Yeah, $3k is a big chunk of change, but maybe you can flip your old Titan's to recoup so it isn't *as* bad? Side note, does AA do anything for you when running at 4K? I question being able to tell the difference between high and ultra half the stuff I turn on... but I didn't think that AA on 4K did anything at all except eat GPU cycles and VRAM?

I waited to order my EK water block until the back plates were available so they would ship together, and I ordered on Aug 8th @ 6PM CDT (August 9, 2016 1:16:24 AM CEST), a few hours after the back plates were posted for pre-order.

The 6950x is actually not enough for me sometimes, I convert/encode videos often as a secondary use of my main rig, more cores would be nice but didn't want to go low clocked xeons.

I'm not really sure if AA makes a huge difference in 4K but when I turn it on it definitely drags the PC down a lot to an unplayable state so no way to test it really and this is only for 60hz too. For me there is a huge difference between 1440/lower and 4k but some people at work swear they don't see the difference.

I ordered on the 9th so I hope I get backplate shipping updates soon. I ordered the block and backplate separately.

Installed it smile.gif

http://imgur.com/3MKvtEQ

Basic results are below (I don't have time tonight to do more frown.gif ) - this is using the QDC pre-filled Nickel block with the Predator 240.

Firstly - the predator 240 seems to be waaaaaaaay good enough to handle +1 gpu ontop of the CPU (someone had concerns over it on another forum!)

As I say, I've not had time to overclock yet - this is all on stock settings.

Without the block:

You know the story. My card boosted to around 1,740 - obviously without a very agressive fan curve it would not stay there at all. Temps would settle around 75 or so depending on the game.

With the block:

Boost clocks are now 1,835mhz and stable without touching anything. Free performance, woo.

Max GPU tempreture reached was 42 deg c. (this is running Unigene valley on a loop).

Overclocking tomorrow smile.gif

Got mine installed yesterday too along with the backplate. Currently boosting to 1885mhz and will be pushing it more in the coming days.

That is the exact combo that I got, looks great man! If my card boosts that well, not sure I am even going to bother with overclocking, it will be nice not to have to screw with custom BIOSes, tweaking for hours and hours, running benches over and over, etc.

Considering getting a backplate for mine. Is there much point / with the WB already installed, is it easy to put on? (without removing things!)

The backplate and the block shares 6 of the 15 screws that are on the block. So yes you will be able to install the backplate without completely removing the block. thumb.gif
