I know it can be annoying but if we don't put the screws in a separate compartment we will receive many very mean e-mails at the customer support for scratched backplates because the screws were hitting the backplate during shipment. biggrin.gif

That's probably so they don't bang around and scratch the block.

They could have written "Screws" on it though tongue.gif

For what it's worth, this seems a fairly standard packaging approach in the water cooling industry. My radiators from Alphacool came the same way, with screws and other hardware hidden in cardboard on the side.

I just got mine. Did they do a horrible job at some of the pads on yours too? For $1,200 + tax overpriced I thought they would do a better job on stock pads sheesh.

I noticed the same thing when I did mine earlier this week. Some of the pads just sort of fell apart when I removed the stock cooler.

Got mine and installed in on Wednesday, and same thing here, I was like *** man, WHAT 7mm screws damnit!! I have NO SCREWS.

On the note of screws, I had an *assload* of extra screws from both the water block and the back plate. Even after looking for extra places to put screws not mentioned in the instruction, I only found one place not in the instructions, one that was in instructions for past blocks to secure the other of the PCI bracket... the one which needs a nut on the other side. I don't mean like a couple of extra screws, I mean like I needed one 6mm screw for the water block install, but it came with 13!! I didn't need ANY nuts, and I think I had 10.

I am not complaining at all, these are awesome to have and put in the spare screw box, I am certain someday these will come in handy, just curious if every one's blocks came with so many extras. I remember my other blocks coming with extra screws too, but not nearly as many, nor did they include screw types where there were 0 needed. And I think for those it was clear it was because of the differences between full coverage vs. half coverage blocks or something. Maybe this is some new universal pack of screws that EK can just throw into every kit from now on just to make things easier?

I also was wondering *** with all of the white gunky pads that were poorly applied... and they didn't seem like they would be great thermal conductors... maybe they were just to prevent metal to metal contact? What do I know... whatever... I took em all off smile.gif.

On the topic of pads, are the EK thermal pads different than they used to be? My last block was a monoblock for an x99 deluxe, before than a Titan X(M), and before that a 980, and I will check in a bit as I kept the extra pads from every one of those, but I am pretty sure that these thermal pads are a bit "shinier" and more rubbery... and seem less apt to pull apart.

Finally, the new block and back plate is WONDERFUL everything looked to be making contact unlike my Titan X(M) back plate. I just now got to the point where everything has been jammed back into my NCase M1 (check my sig to understand, not sure how I get all of this crap in there, very carefully I guess smile.gif). Temps are fantastic and time for GPU to get close to loop water temp is almost instant, so the block is definitely working well. I have only just started on tuning, OCing, etc. and updating my aquaero 6XT to make the fans behave appropriately (partly using a temp sensor on the GPU backplate, maybe not as useful as it was with Titan X(M) though), etc., but will post with better temp stats when I do. I do know that a quick Firestrike Ultra run had it boost to 1900 with everything on out of the box settings, it didn't get over 1800 to that with the ref cooler. And it is so pretty now too smile.gif.

Another great block, thanks EK!!

The new pads seem shinier yes and the temps are good.

The screws were strategically placed there so they don't scratch your blocks I'm almost certain of it. My only beef with EK screws are the fact that they seem low quality, I'd pay for extra for nicer screws.

Finally, the TXP... My first impression is I'm not impressed. Paid tons for 2x TXP just so that I can comfortably have a messily 2x MSAA on GTA5 using a HB EVGA bridge, anything higher and the memory shoots up to red and the GPU is already maxed at x2. I didn't overclock it yet since I just finished installing them and my loop still has micro bubbles running around from not thoroughly bleeding it.

Well anyway here's the pair in action.

Beautiful rig! I am actually really impressed with his card, upgrading from single Titan. After reinstalling and bleeding my loop (an ordeal that makes me question the NCase M1 every time biggrin.gif), with minimal tweaking I hit #43 on Ultra leader boards: http://www.3dmark.com/hall-of-fame-2/fire+strike+3dmark+score+ultra+preset/version+1.1/1+gpu.

I haven't modded GPU at all, since no custom BIOS and I ain't gonna do the resistor mod, so I am hitting the power limit hard (getting 2150 core and 5505 on RAM). This cards still looks to have more in reserve, even with my terrible little loop shared with my 4790k little nuke reactor (which hit 80s @4.6GHz@1.25v during physics test) my Titan never broke 48C, and avg during benchmarking was prolly around 44 with ambient of 30.

My old Titan X Maxwell in exact same config with custom BIOS and A LOT more tweaking only hit 5447 in Ultra, so that is a 141% increase with a stock Titan X Pascal not breaking a sweat. I haven't gotten to game benching yet, but based on what I have seen I am a very happy camper, this little rig has some firepower!
