Any chance we could late on see a more advanced, active cooled backplate like I asked about here? Pretty please?biggrin.gif

Honestly, 'active' cooled backplates bring nothing to the table. Nothing. Zip. Nada. They are only for the show.

I suppose normally that would be the case, but these new Titans have a very serious problem in the VRM area. We need to keep them quite cool to overclock the card hard, otherwise we will be blowing VRMs in a year or so. You could easily market an active backplate to the water coolers for this card cause it would be one of the only safe ways for us water people to actually make real use of the water cooling for overclocking.

Active backplate won't drop temperatures even a few degress. The VRM Tjunction temperature is 120°C, this water block will keep it well under the threshold - usually it runs in the 60°C range with our FC Titan X Pascal water block.

Could you explain these results then by chance?
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'm inclined to believe what you are saying, but these results from xtremerigs testing seem to show otherwise. Granted, that's the 290 AMD card, but unless there was some major change in the way you guys design your backplates in the last 3 years, the results should be similar.

It's generally irrelevant as to me the primary purpose of a backplate is to protect the card from my mishandling of them and your backplates are fantastic at that, thus I will continue to buy them. However, to say that an active backplate won't lower the temps any seems to be untrue.

'Science', based on bad data or questionable at best is worse than no science.

Also I would assume the R&D Chief of EK knows what he's talking about tongue.gif

On another note, why the delay with the Titan X backplates? Are you guys just milling out a lot of plates atm so you will have sufficient stock?

I completely agree and that is why I was asking. thumb.gif

Problem is when someone else who knows what they are talking about, (The Chief Editor of Extremerigs.net is no slouch himself) presents conflicting data, us laymen gotta ask to figure out what's really the truth. I meant no disrespect, and hopefully none was taken.
