Custom Loop Configurator (beta)

Thread Starter
Dear EK fans! biggrin.gif

For the first time outside of our company, we are giving you a sneak peek into our latest project! Since liquid cooling can be very daunting at first, and since the majority of beginners ask about parts compatibility, we designed the most advanced liquid cooling loop configurator. This is the early BETA version and it might have some bugs that should be polished out in the following weeks! We are still working on some features and improvements, so we encourage you to come back regularly.

Custom Loop Configurator is ready for you to test out! thumb.gif

Visit: https://www.ekwb.com/custom-loop-configurator/

We have worked on this for quite some time now and we hope you will provide us with your feedback. Your opinion is very valuable for us and we are doing everything we can to bring liquid cooling closer to more people. With your help, we can also make things better and we want you to tell us what you think.

This might not be the tool for very experienced users who know all the smallest details, but more for mainstream users, who would like to assemble a custom loop in a few easy steps. smile.gif Official beta period will start on 8th of August, with some great prizes to win so keep an eye on this thread and our social media!

Let us know what you think about our CLC - Custom Loop Configurator rolleyes.gif

Tested it quickly. The only problem I had was when selecting the GPU locations and when choosing the radiator location (I never figured out how to change from the 360mm it recommended me).

edit 1 : Also, you could have it pre-filter results of motherboards based on the case choice. If I choose nano S, I can still choose ATX and mATX motherboards.

edit 2 : at step 5, I still get the option to select a GPU block, even if I selected I did not want to water cool it in step 4.

edit 3 : It works really well as a whole, with just a tiny bit of polishing, you've got your hands on something great.

First off, thanks from a first time water cooler. thumb.gif It'll be nice to have it actually working as I love EK's products.

I tried it out and got stuck at graphic card selection as you guys don't have the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Sea Hawk EK X in there. Might want to add that one... tongue.gif

Thanks. We will add Sea Hawk GPU, we already have a workaround for this smile.gif

Hey, this is a great idea! How are you going about adding more cases? Is this something you want people to help with via the compatibility form or something you will have to add yourselves?

PC cases are added on daily basis. Currently there's no form to submit yours yet, hence you will have to wait for us to add it.

Looks promising, very good idea, thumbs up!

Wanted to try it out but no Caselabs cases are availableright now frown.gif I know these cases are not particularly mainstream but some of the better cases for watercooling so please add them smile.gif

And some stuff i recognized while i just played with the configurator:

- the other options in step 5 resets but only if you change the tubing size.

- in step 8 when you select your radiators there is a TPD and expected temp but you never ask if i want to overclock or which processor i will use and due to the fact that this thing said that i would have a temp of 29° i would assume that this is the expected temp for idle load. i think that this should be noted there and that if possible the expected temps should be include the variation of overclocking or at least state that OC will affect the temps in a big deal.

- At the end i choose only plexi and white stuff but the configurator offered me black fans (the f4-120er which are also available in white) and the EK-XTOP Revo D5 PWM with a black top but i would expect the that it would offer me the plexi one.

- I selected a two 980ti setup and was a little bit disapointed that i could not change the the style of the GPU block (nickle/copper). In additon i tried to select 2x evga hydro copper 980ti and the configurator tried to offer me 2 new block for this cards smile.gif

This was ofc only a quick test and the product is in beta and due to that please don't missunderstand my comments as critics but only as a little bit of feedback of a short user test smile.gif

I really like what you are trying to achieve with this thing!

This, was interested in trying it out but nothing CL or Parvum. =/

I guess I'll try it out with a random mainstream case. tongue.gif

EDIT: I did find a few issues with the configurator that might be known already.

  1. It looks like it is using the number of radiator fan slots and saying top that many times. With multiple radiators it does the same thing, plus adds them together near the end (first screenie). I'm guessing this should say the actual location instead of top for every location and many times. tongue.gif
    First Screenie (Click to show)
    Second Screenie (Click to show)

  2. The text on the panel where it states whether or not you'll have enough cooling potential also has text that can overlap and block other text. My first run I did, didn't screenie it, I ended up with it telling me I would not have enough cooling potential and it was a bit worse.
    Text Overlap (Click to show)

Follow up: I maximized my browser and it looks like its just an issue with smaller window sizes. I run Chrome windowed with a width of about 1440 pixels (using AHK window spy). This is maximized on a 1440p monitor:

Haven't found anything else yet. biggrin.gif

I tried it again and the Sea Hawk EK X worked now!

On step 8, as I think someone said earlier, you can't change the radiator position, and also can't add any more.

On step 9, there was a not needed EK-FC Titan X Backplate - Black added in, although by step 10 it was gone again.

Also the hard tubing and all mention of it in step 9 is gone on step 10. Step 9 would be a nice time to pick variables as I would rather the 16mm petg and 16mm fittings.

Come to think of it I don't believe all the colors were listed for fittings. I wanted your black fittings, but only the elox black were listed.

It would be nice if sometime in the future step 9 would also say that there are alternatives available and let you check them out.

It had the black EK-Vardar F4-120ER (2200rpm) in my cart on step 9 and 10 even though they are out of stock. It would be nice if you could pick alternatives during this step as I would definitely go with the white F4-120ERs.

Realize that this is a work in progress. Just my observations, mixed with what I think would be cool down the road.

I like it so far, but it's a little scary to see how much of that respected cash I'm giving you guys. smile.gif

Thanks for the work so far!
