Recommend me a VPN (please)

OCN! I need your assistance.

I'm going to need a VPN in about a month. I don't know if I'm allowed to discuss what I need it for or not, but I'll need no data limit, and I'll need it to pretend I'm in the United States. That's basically it. One with a monthly subscription is ideal, as I'll only need it for about half the year. Cost isn't necessarily an issue; I don't need the cheapest, and am willing to pay for quality, but I don't want to shell out extra cash for nothing in particular.

I really know nothing in this area, so I figured it'd be best to ask those in the know.

Thanks!

EDIT: I've also been told that a "Smart DNS" may serve my purposes. What's the difference?

I have been using PIA for about 2 years I use it in my work its very cheap and works well and support torrents 2

A vpn sends all your traffic down a secure tunnel where it pops out the other end,

DNS is just a phonebook. so some services do region based services based on DNS

it depends whta you want to do, the best option would be to set up a machine in your netowrk in the states to VPN to, but it depends what for, and what yu have to use

Not interested in the torrents. Cheap and works well are okay with me, though. Thanks!

I don't know how much detail I can go into, because I feel it may violate ToS. Instead, I'll just make some statements that may or may not be related to my query. I want to sign up for NFL GamePass. I live in Canada. I don't like TV blackouts.

Private Internet Access. Speeds have always been good, never had a issue, great customer support if you need it.

I've been told by a friend that he uses Unblockus for the same purposes I'll be using a VPN/smart DNS for. What is Unblockus? A VPN or DNS? They claim to be a "smarter faster VPN" but then talk like they're a DNS.

They offer two products, one DNS and one VPN

Most likey the way it works is it redirects all your traffic to one of their servers, which then forwards it on for you, not to sure how this would work for HTTPS sites though . . .

The VPN solution they offer is a PPTP VPN, not very 'secure' but it will make it appear like you are geographically coming from their data centre in the US

Services like this shouldnt reall be trusted for sensitve browsing, such as banking, but your everyday traffic, or keeping up with the local news / sports stream should be fine. They are a bit more expensive than I expected, though i guess its for bandwidth

Your needs are pretty basic.

I personally prefer AirVPN. They have a very nice open-source GUI client (useful for selecting country/server and configuring settings), and maintain a strong stance towards transparency and privacy.

No speed/data limits - goes without saying. smile.gif Plenty of nice extra features, too (just check their home page).
