For now the Education edition is in the same boat as the Enterprise edition, so you should be safe, for now at least. It's nonetheless mindboggling how Pro users are being treated this way and left behind versus those who have an Education license.

I would not be so sure, for example, few years back I was surprised when I was installing a server version of 8 by a friking touch interface slappin me in the face. Like for real, a touch interface on a server edition? So I would say that it is a matter of time until MS gets around installing candy crush on enterprise editions as well wink.gif

I guess that's why 2008 was such a grand success, admins were killing themselves to install a touch interface that can only multitask two APPS, not to programs but two mobile apps, on their servers.

I'm sure M$py will destroy Windows Server by installing Candy Crush Saga or full screen adverts in Win Server too. They are stupid enough to do it.

To make it worse people are going to be paying for the pleasure using Win Spy.

Yep, so far. Hopefully it stays that way. I don't have W10 Edu on any of main rigs, but do have it on my lappy for school. Plus, to see how it works and to mess with it since sooner or later gov computers will be moving over to it. Though, some of us in the military are like what the heck is going to happen when it fully comes out to our computers. I can see major headache coming. Heck, when W7 came out to our computers it was like hell fire for support peeps. Boy, did they hate it.

Even Windows XP is still supported with GTX 960/950. Windows 7 will certainly be supported until win7 reaches EOL and well after. It's a trivial task, Vista/7/8/10 use the same driver model. I believe it'll still be supported for at least another decade, maybe a little longer than XP, in that case, some 15 years.

Seriously? How many threads are we going to have about people swearing they'll never move to Win10 when we all know they will because they won't do anything to change the status quo. Eventually there will be some exclusive or so on and all these people will hope over and then they'll say they were always a fan. Saw this with Vista and then 7 (aka Vista 2.0) came out and people jumped at 7 because it "wasn't Vista". Same thing will happen when Win11 or whatever they call it will come out. By then Win7 will be EOL and people having been backed into a corner will move to Win11.

As for MS removing features; you licensed the software so how can you honestly think you're entitled to control of it? It's MS's property and if you don't like it make your own or move to something that has better terms.

I don't license any software, I buy it and thus I own it. If M$py don't like it they can collectively jump off a cliff, good riddance.

Err... aren't you a little late for that? The 29 July "free" offer deadline was last Friday, today is Sunday.

Of course you can now move the goalposts like you just did (and so can Microsoft...) and say something along the lines of "yeah right, hmpf... but you will move sooner or later, just you wait until the next promotion, they'll get ya!"

Whatever suits your view.

I'm still using Windows 7 and will take my time to move to Linux. I paid for my retail Windows 7 license, I intend to make use of it until I want to. Make no mistake, I will move to Linux unless Microsoft does a complete 180 on all the lack of options for telemetry / updates / ads / visuals / user control and privacy in general and provide in writing, thus in their EULA / Privacy Policy and whatever other applicable documents, that those options will not be removed for the next 10 years, regardless of 2nd or 3rd or whatever Anniversary or non-Anniversary updates. Anything less than that and it's bye bye Microsoft from me. It's non-negotiable.
