What games simply won't run on two threads?

So I'm doing a budget build for a client of mine and I' heard that Far Cry primal simply won't run unless ur CPU has more then 2 threads. I'm using the G4400 for the build and so I'd like to notify my client a list of games that won't work on his rig if at all possible, perhaps he'll wanna upgrade.

Pretty much any triple A title in the past 2 years past med settings wont run stable if at all at 1080p with that cpu ( before anyone calls me out yes there are some exceptions but for the bulk of triple A games this remains correct ). If it was the 3258 that can overclock it would be a different story but that cpu not so much. With all new games becoming heavily multicore dependent a I3 is the gaming minimum imo.

You sure bout that? From alllll the benchmarks I've seen (and I've seen a lot) the G4400 outruns the G3258 stock and overclocking didn't make that much of a difference either) judging from a lot of the benchmarks as well the G4400 can run games easily in 1080 depending on ur card obviously. But part of Far Cry Primal's game engine actually requires a third thread so the game won't boot up on a 2 thread CPU, that's what I'm referring too.

Just some examples of the G4400's perf and how little it usually increased when overlooked (and you can OC the G4400 btw just how to downgrade ur BIOS which I'm not doing lol)

Eh stock maybe, but considering the 3258 can oc to 4.5 and higher it really does make a difference when the game requires more cpu horsepower, i generally try to undercut cpu performance to help give a bigger overhead on newer systems to help future proof them. and having more then 2 threads helps tremendously, i always recommend a I3 as a minimum for a gaming rig. Now dont get me wrong both the G4400 and G3258 are solid chips on a uber budget but i really try to push for a better chip when i know gaming is a relevant factor as with games becoming so heavily multicore dependent dual core chips will start having massive issues keeping up in the coming months/years, it does also come down to what the person plans on playing with it, moba's and mmo's are fine with dual cores but higher and triple a games become the issue especially future wise.

why not suggest him to upgrade to an used i5 or a cheap core i3? g4400 and g3258 can bottleneck many modern video card and also limit game performance

Even if a game uses only two threads, your OS can use more. Always go for as many threads as possible.

Even used I3s and I5s are much more expensive. His working with a budget and wants a 1060 and instead of going with an AMD I figured going with an 2011 socket would be the best for future proofing method. The G4400 does fine in terms of performance but I was just wanting to know what games won't boot up on a two thread CPU.

I3's are about double the price at 120$ avg but the performance boost is simply staggering overall imo. I would honestly try to talk him into a I3 6100 and a rx 480. the 6100 would give him both skylake and the option to upgrade it in the next 2 years without any issues aswell as super solid 1080p performance ( if he is gaming above this slap him. budget and 1440p+ dont go in the same sentence lol ) aside from that, listing games that wont boot, ****. idk. never had to even try that, i havent gamed on a dual core in YEARS, been quad core since the Q6600 released lol. Google games that wont boot on 2 cores? ive never had to budget build that hard before for gaming.
