Hello,

A friend of mine is trying to install new memory modules on his system. The problem that occurs is that the computer won't start up at all.. it doesn't come with an error message or something like that.

This is the current configuration that he is running:

The new memory modules he wants to install is:
G.Skill 8 GB DDR3-1066 Kit F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL

And this is what shows up in his bios once he installed the memory:

I hope there are some suggestions out there.. would be a big help smile.gif

Yea no worries, Lets try this. Try one of the sticks at a time. both in Slot A ( or slot closest to the CPU) if one reads and one does not, that'll tell you , you have a bad stick normally. Try that out and let us know.

Alright so he tried to do this and on both sticks he got the following BSOD message:

My thinking is that the kit isnt compatible with that motherboard. Next step after then is, try 1 stick of the original memory and see what happens, if it boots up no problem. I would attempt a CMOS reset like Doza states above. The way to do it is, remove your power cord from the desktop power supply, remove the watch battery off the motherboard with a pen ( you'll see a release on the board to take it out easy) give it about 30 seconds, snap it back into place, put power cord back in, attempt one stick again in Slot A, if it does it again with both, and boots up on the original DIMM? I would suggest purchasing 4GB single channel 1066 or 1333mhz DIMMs, Dual channel may not work on your motherboard in this case.

EDIT: I'm wondering. are you able to adjust anything in your BIOS as far as overclocking? I'm wondering if we need to adjust the speeds on your DIMMS with the correct speeds.... instead of everything on AUTO
