In certain situations, the new Titan X has 198% of the performance of the original GeForce GTX Titan X. It is 98% faster. Case closed, time to move on.

No it's not. but read again from what the argument actually was, and where it ended.

People are messing things up when going to multiplication from percentage. both have different rules as to how you compare things.

I see. You meant to say 3 times as fast. Saying 3x faster is not the same as 3x as fast.

200% faster is 2x faster or 3x as fast.

i already said and gave example it's 3x of original. don't see what's difficult to understand.

The meaning of faster changes when you shift from calculating percentage to multiplication ( x times of)

with percentage, faster means addition to base value.

with multiplication, it means x times of original.

I should have worded it better but whatever. people still can't do maths.

Don't bother, I even gave him examples in a PM:

http://everything2.com/title/300%2525+of+something+is+NOT+three+times+more%2521

There is an inherent difference between the following:

This is three times faster.
This is three times as fast.

Hell, you can just take the decimal and convert it into a percentage or vice versa and you get his statements as:

"200% faster means 300% faster"
"2x faster means 3x faster"

Guy should apply for head of PR at Nvidia.

FINALLY

i waited 5 pages to see this ( i was actually on transportation back home but anyway tongue.gif)

It's really cute to see people from english speaking countries failing english so hard

two times faster = 200% fastER = 3 times as fast

2x faster doesn't equal to 300% faster, it equals to 300%, PERIOD.

Some of you, really.

EDIT : sorry, i didnt know it wasn't his first language (it's not mine either, but that's not the point)

@EightDee8D this was NEVER a math problem. It's an english language problem all along.
