Good Guy Newegg: GTX 970 Settlement Info

Thread Starter
So as many people may already know, the GTX 970 lawsuit with Nvidia has been settled, and anyone who has bought a GTX 970 is eligible for $30 in compensation. Seems Newegg is notifying people and helping make the process relatively painless for people who ordered from their site, as I received this email from them today:

If I were Newegg, here's what I would offer: No fuss claim, $1 fee and they file the claim on your behalf and send you the remaining $29 in a check. Tens of thousands of dollars profit for them, no fuss for me.

$30 is $30. And while I never really cared about the VRAM discrepancy, false advertising is false advertising. It went beyond VRAM, because the card was even listed as having more ROP's than it did too.

What?

There was some settlement from Nvidia ... which means they are going to have to pay into a pool a certain amount of money regardless of what anyone here thinks. I didn't sue Nvidia... I sold my 970 simply because I no longer needed it.

I don't think anyone here.. sued or even took part in getting a class action filed.

So what "you people" do you mean?

Regardless of what is going on in the world.... Nvidia decided to do this settlement without much of any actual action on the "class" part... so their legal team probably has more of a clue as to what their possible Liability was... than some random OCN poster.

You shouldn't make "random" posts without full knowledge of the subject and maybe actually READING the settlement.

Reading would probably help you. Then again you would have to actually comprehend what you were reading. I actually did read it.. hence my post.

If you are going to try to make a post like the one you did and be snarky after. You should probably have a grasp of the class action status at the time of the proposed settlement and how these things work in general.

Your post had absolutely nothing to do with the settlement. Let me quote it for you again to remind you...

"his is the most ridiculous class action lawsuit that has come along in a long time! Seriously you people think your owed money for some company lying to you about GPU RAM??? So Mr. Random.. what exactly does your post have to do with a legal settlement. Why do you think the legal settlement happened? Because "you people" decided they were owed money?

Oh and if it wasn't a bunch of "you people" suing them... at some point various AG's from around the country would have sued them under consumer protection laws. Which is likely why their legal team advised them to settle now. As opposed to having every state in the US file a suit like was just dropped on Comcast in WA.

Anyway have a good day or night... I'm done with this one.

Well first if your going to quote me then quote me properly, that just looks noobish.

Second, here is an explanation of a class action lawsuit since you don't seem to understand them. Oh, and I would bet my last dollar you didn't read one word of the 970 lawsuit, so you can imagine what I would tell you to do with "YOUR" snarky random ramblings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_action

Bottom line is people got butt hurt because they were lied to about .5 GB of RAM that didn't make a hill of beans of difference in their day to day lives, and there is a LOT more hurt in the world than to worry about that. To tie up our legal system with such frivolous nonsense and add additional cost to anything nvidia does in the future which will be redirected at us the end users eventually is just utter idiocy! Period!!
