Projects of the Month for August 2016 - Page 3

The rain has temporarily fixed my internet it seems... tech supposed to fix cable by the 11th after weeks of saying there was no problem and my modem Pinged okay...

We will see... meanwhile, on the road until end of month... Maybe "I" can get some Einstein done in the meantime...

Sigh...

And if I can restart my other systems that are not responding, then I can run some SETI too..

Glad you got it sorted out. :D  I forgot that you were running the iGPU which gives you two devices with the same id number.

I had to suspend vgtu. I looked today and the last 150 tasks failed. Each one had run almost 2 hours, what a waste of cpu time

OC'd too high? I have 13 that are 'failed' but were actually canceled by server with 0 CPU time. Looks like a few peoples clients had them in the queue and the client got them completed right before deadline. Seems like a waste of bandwidth have WUs sent out right before the deadline.

Otherwise 930 that completed fine.

I got hit with an error that seems to happen a bit on this project "Maximum elapsed time exceeded"

I just did not notice it happening so I had a ton of tasks got through before I caught it. Before this I had 4000 tasks that finished fine.

I thought VGTU uses more memory than it did, I thought someone mentioned it uses up to 2GB per thread? I've only seen Windows report 0.5MB. Hopefully now that I got the 2P stable I can get some real crunching done! biggrin.gif Main power cable wasn't seated properly, getting random BSOD and restarts. Fingers crossed thats all it was.

As for it sending out two WUs for verify, I guess its to speed up the verification process. If you send out one, it may take days if it doesn't get crunched on an very active machine. Then it would timeout in days before it would send out another WU to verify. That's my theory, anyhow. I noticed that Universe does this. I only done a handful of units in VGTU so I haven't seen that yet.

EDIT: Nope..it was a bad memory stick.

Universe was just sending out 3 units nearly right away when they started the Quark and BHspin 2 apps recently. I noticed on VGTU that it would send out a 3rd verification WU like 1-2 hours before its deadline.

VGTU is using just 1.7mb per WU in Linux on my 3570k.

POTM Update

VGTU project@Home

Start: 28 - Goal: 20 - Currently: 22  | We are on pace to reach the top 20. :thumb:

Asteroids@Home

Start: 27  - Goal: 25  - Currently: 26  | We are only a few days away from reaching our goal, and we might be able to pick up a few more spots. :D

SETI@Home

Start: 126  - Goal: 122  - Currently: 126  | We are just a little off the pace to reach our goal.  I will be switching 4 GPUs over to SETI tonight, so hopefully that will give us a boost. :D

Hopefully SETI comes back online soon, so I can load up on some tasks.

I have a moderate amount of work units to chew through from other projects, but once those are done it'll be SETI@Home for almost a full two weeks.... Going to be interesting to say the least. Well, some work will still happen in other projects on my phones, but that's a totally different story... My phones take too long to chew through SETI work units, but they sure love pogs!
