This is HD revolution all over again.

And that stuff is exactly why I stopped buying things like bluray players and disks. And these companies wonder why everyone is being driven to streaming and pirating...

Speaking of power reduction that is quite impressive, and while slightly pushing the system faster.

I asked this question too, but in a different type of way. I am still hoping someone with deeper knowledge of the manufacturing nodes can help give more info.
While most people just look at Nvidia's lineup and go "wow, that frequency!" and then at AMD using 14nm and say they should have just used TSMC. But from documents we have, Samsung/GF 14nm process has an advantage in both transistor size, switching speed, and operating voltage. So if AMD used the TSMC process I would bet we would not see any real core speed gain, and if anything we would see a reduction.

I am wondering if the reviewer simply had it wrong and said 16nm but it really is 14nm. The GPU in this new XBox model is right around the same frequency as the sweet spot for 14nm GF process frequency/voltage curve.

Funny thing, I still prefer buying some movies on DVD because they can play in virtually any machine.
Bluray disks get different DRM codes every year so even if you have the right software it needs constant updating. The idea of a standalone "movie player" is dead, fortunately most of the Bluray packs still come with DVD's so I can have one for travel and one for home.

I have to wonder if DVD is ever really going to die out as a medium.

UGH I forgot about that. Yea, wait for the PS4 Neo and hope it includes all the codecs (although I doubt DV will be included).

Supprised Amazon UK has not got these in stock yet? Only can see third party sellers.
How does the Xbox S version compare to the PS4 performance wise? Shame they haven't any descent exclusives bundled with them on release day.

lol certainly new standards have nothing to do with you not buying bluray players. 1080p has been active since when,2008? It has been 8 years since the last mayor IQ jump. 4K is 8M pixels compared to the 2M of 1080p what did you expect?

It's BASICALLY just a Xbox Slim refresh (like we've always received) with a few additional perks - HDR & 4k media ouput.

There's a minor 7% boost to the GPU clock too which can be realized in some game situations.
