I'm really hoping Vega and Volta do not disappoint nearly as much as pascal has overall.

That has always been the case but now High End is not double the price but x6 more.

I completely disagree, I've been here since 2004 and I one of the older people on the site. I've been buying flagship models for nearly 2 decades now. I see patterns and realize that technology is not the same as it was 10 years ago, and I lower my expectations. If you expect another 8800GTX in our lifetime, than you will constantly be disappointed. Hardware is not making the leaps and bounds it use to, and it never will again unless a breakthrough is made.

Just be glad that GPUs aren't like CPUs yet, where we see a 5-7% increase every year. It's going to happen at some point.

Fair enough, and I can somewhat understand your point. However, I refuse to lower my expectations when seeing people pay $1200 for a product that is barely twice as fast as a $200 product at an "enthusiast" resolution. I do not expect another 8800gtx, but I do expect prices to remain in line with performance. The Titan X is a cut down chip and they charged even more for it this time? That is beyond having lowered expectations, that is just ridiculous.

Go with your gut and buy it, don't let the negative comments sway you, every flagship GPU release has tons of negative comments. If a Ti releases, chances are it will still be a couple % slower and that's still a long time to wait on a maybe.

Even if it does come, you still had the Titan X for all those months - and that's worth something.

Some decent news : Jacob on the EVGA forums confirmed a hybrid cooler is being worked on: Link to Post

Still, you'd expect this to cost $100, bring the total cost of this Titan to $1400+ for many.

This chip is 1080Ti, but there was no need to sell it as 1080Ti as AMD don't have a card faster than the 1080. Therefore it is sold as Titan instead because that allow Nvidia to charge $1200 for it instead of $850. When Vega comes out this will be rebranded as 1080Ti and a full chip Titan with a hot factory OC will be rushed out.

My problem with that $200 product is it simply will not run 4K well, so it's not viable even if it was $2.tongue.gif

The only 4K solutions that make sense to me right now are:
- 2x 1080 ($1400) - SLI may not scale well in some games, making 4K performance subpar in those titles.
- 1x Titan X ($1200) - Consistent performance in all titles

The price sucks, I wish it was $1000, but I already sold my old Titan and the card is "only" $850 for me after that.

$1200 has you thinking $1000 is a good deal now. How the mighty have fallen to Nvidia.

But, if you need justification from some random forum members and aren't comfortable with spending $1200 on an impulse purchase without some dude on the internet saying "i don't think a Ti is coming until next year", then i don't think this card is for you.

A lot of these people saying a Ti won't be coming for another year were also saying a Titan would never drop this close to the 1080/this year at all.. Nobody outside of Nvidia/AMD really know what's going to happen.
