You missed my point? You claimed the purpose of a forum is to debate. It's not, it has many purposes but you seem to only want to debate over anything you possibly can. You just attempted to start a car debate in a Titan thread because of an analogy someone used for crying out loud.

It's become clear to me we are never going to get along, so do yourself a favor and block me. I've already added you, so don't bother replying to me anymore.

I hope cfx works well. My whole plan for upgrading to a couple of probably as fast as the 1080, but hopefully have that sweet furyx cooler vegas, to escape the last year's news nvidia cycle depends on it.

I'm even ok with spending 780ti sli money again, just not every other year. That tiled rendering gives me the creeps with driver updates.
Sure, your 780 Ti's do 60fps at 4K on older games but not on the recent ones. My 980's struggle at 1440p and they are OC'd. 4K is out of the question unless I heavily downgrade the settings.

If you mean avoiding ao and aa and not even liking dof or motion blur, then yes, those are the first on my list to go. They actually hold textures pretty well though. And your 980s are faster I'm sure. All part of the cycle. The toughest one I play is W3 and that one is smooth enough to turn on the motion smoothing on the tv.

Neat.

SLI 1080's aren't able to maintain 60fps without sacrifices in some newer titles. But, as always, it depends on what you play. Avoiding AO though seems like a pretty substantial sacrifice.

Well the games I want to do 4K I can't even with 2 card. CFX also does not work all the times. RoTR for example I get 45 fps at 4K with Textures on High.

I don't get why some of you guys complain performance isn't as expected. not worth the price for the performance for gaming..
this is not a gaming card. its not advertised as gaming card. just enjoy the 25-50% gain if you chose to buy it

now question is... asides from deep learning .. who else would benefit

3d Rendering ... No benchmarking but my guess it would be just a bit better than gtx 1080. Dual card escalates well (80% or so). A dual gtx 1080 would be way much better than a single Titan X.
for hobiists and enthusiasts and small companies, dual gtx 1080 would be better. for big companies that can afford 2 or 3 Titan X it will help a lot in their renderings.
also, depending on their textures, the extra ram would help

Photoscan... Cant think it would need more than 8gb ram but the process escalates just as well as rendering. unless you are capturing a big area, there would be no need for more than 2 cards. 3rd or more cards don't escalate that great. Dual GTX 1080 looks to be best way (for around same investment of a titan x)

vifeo rendering. not sure if uses fp16. if does (as some suggested) a titan would be great. if not, same for 3d rendering

Gaming .. I personally never been a fan of SLI (never had a sli system). there is no overclock benchmark on titan. the stock fell just short of 4k/60fos. A bit of overclock it would reach it.
so any person that has a 4k system would benefit from it. If you want 4k now, titan is the best way. anyone on less, gtx 1080 is more than enough.

in short. I see the titan as a card for
1. big companies doing 3d rendering
2. deep learning
3. very big 3d capture scenes (3-4 titans)
4. 4k gaming

I do 3d rendring, 3d capture and gaming on 1440p. To me, it is not worth but as I mentioned for some it would be very well worth it. I hope the Titan X will bring gtx 1080 in stock and reasonable price so I buy my 2nd card.

This is just a personal preference because whats considered "worth it" is completely subjective, but I think that a 3440x1440 100hz monitor and a Gtx 1080 offer a better gaming experience and better performance for roughly the same price as a 4k 60hz monitor and a Titan XP.

I know that. The sacrifices keep piling up. redface.gif

Well I still can hope cfx gets better by vega's release. And hopefully the games port better too.

Nvidia doesn't even know what this card is for.
Quote:
We have confirmation that the FP64 and FP16 rates are identical to GP104, which is to say very slow, and primarily there for compatibility/debug purposes.

NVIDIA has clarified the branding a bit. Despite GeForce.com labeling it "the world’s ultimate graphics card," NVIDIA this morning has stated that the primary market is FP32 and INT8 compute, not gaming.
