[Various] Titan X Benchmarks - Page 61

I guess we still have to wait for a true 4k@60fps card, but this card is still a monster and is probably well suited for 3440X1440@60fps.

Link Titan X 4k Benchmarks, not quit 4k@60fps but still a monster.

Lol i own an old corolla and utility van, if i buy 2x titan x they will have costed me more than my rides. I am practical on everything except PCs. Maybe i should see a doctor. The funny thing is i already spent 2400ish on furyx quadfire last year. It does appear though these titanx will push 4k/5k surround and thats whhere i care the most. I realize i am in a minority. I am patiently waiting until November or so.

You are forgetting overclocking. If I had $1200 to buy this card I would put it under water.

It still can't do 4k60 properly. Performance wise the card still at the 1080 tier (barely for 4k), while the price is not mad.gif

If nVi had released a full GP102 as TitanX (which might push 4k60fps), the card would have set a new tier of its own. The 1200 price mark would only make sense in that case.

It does 4K60 in majority of games...

Full GP102 won't do 4K60 in all games either, and probably not in any where the TX struggles. At best performance between this and full chip will only be 3-4%.

Games will keep getting more demanding too, I expect even the Volta Titan won't do 4K60 in all games. 4K will continue to be a moving target - look how long it took GPUs to catch up to 1440p/1600p.

Very true, but on paper I thought this card would run Crysis 3/Witcher 3@4k 60fps. 4k@60 fps will in fact be a moving target but I think the new API's will go a far way in getting future cards closer to that mark.

4k@60fps or not, this card still offers monstrous performance for a single card, above 30k graphics score when overclock in Firestrike is simply nuts.

It is the "image upscaling" tab combined with the 256 image doubling that kills it. I can run all image doubling up to octuple with 256 NNEDI3 as long as I use DXVA2 under image upscaling. frame times are 18-20ms like this. The picture looks alright, but soft. Or I can run only double resolution with 32 NNEDI3 if I want to use Lancoz, Spline, or Jinc under image upscaling. and the frame times are between 17-25ms depending on which processing code I am using. This looks quite a bit sharper of an image, but also has upscaling artifacts and noise to the image, something DXVA2 has none of. So I guess it depends how you want to run your image, but anything even remotely close to the settings you asked for are not able to be run unless you use DXVA

So even at 2.1ghz/1.53ghz, you'd only get it down to like 43-47ms using those settings I assume.

If Volta is 1.6x perf stock, 60-65ms should be around 37.5-40.625ms ( OC might be down to 27ms-29ms )

Do you happen to know if Fury X / 290X is better than 980ti / 980 with those two programs?

The same thing happens in cars, its just that the time scale is far longer. For instance, the current Civic Si is a faster car than an early 90's or late 80's Ferrari. Car analogies are still very poor in the tech sector but everybody uses them because they are universally understood since cars are so ubiquitous in our every day lives...

I wonder if new Titan X buyers will get broken off by Nvidia in the same way as us OG Titan owners did 3 years ago by releasing a cheaper 1080Ti down the line that is the fully unlocked GP102? That would be hilarious (well, I don't mean that in a trollish way but just in an ironic one) but I don't see Nvidia releasing ANY 1080Ti at all unless AMD releases something at least as competitive as the original 290X was back in 2013. I guess we shall see but the precedent has certainly been set...

Yeah, AMD needs to come off the next big die...the TX is just a bit rich for my blood, and the 1080 is not a great choice coming from SLI 980s. We need some competition back in the high end, NVidia kind of gets to do whatever it wants to all the people trying to run 4k 60hz...
