Crossfire w/ASRock 970 Extreme 4 and 2x XFX R9 280s

Thread Starter
I've been into building computers for a while now, but I've never attempted to use crossfire in any of my builds. Before I go out and buy a new GPU, I'm wondering if my build is up to snuff. I read around that my M/B might introduce some bottlenecking, and that weaker CPUs are bad with crossfire. Here's my build. What do you think? Worth it for two cards or should I just wait for one big card?

CPU: AMD FX-8320, 8-core @3.5GHz
M/B: Asrock 970 Extreme 4
GPU: XFX Radeon R9 280 DD
PSU: EVGA 210-GQ-1000
Case: Corsair Vengeance c70

As noted above, my GPU is an XFX Radeon R9 280 DD, which has 3GB DDR5 VRAM with a 827MHz core clock speed. The GPU I wanted to add would be an XFX Radeon R9 280X, the overclocked version, which also has 3GB GDDR5 VRAM, but with an 850 MHz core clock speed. Would these cards be compatible together? From everything I've read, they ought to be.

i think most people would tell you 1 big card is always better, but if crossfire is an option for the games you most play it could be worth it.

for me the game i play most, paragon, it is not. not that i dont play other games, but the amount i play this one it isnt worth it to me.

if the game allowed crossfire, i would do it even if all the other games i played didn't.

The 990 boards are supposed to be better at crossfire than the 970 boards but I don't remember all the details. You might be better off with a single card on that motherboard.
