Not really really though...

The 8gb vram is nice,256 bus is not and it slightly shows in 4k but they are same tier cards,i just couldn't find a 1070 for under 500 euro so the 100 euro cheaper 980ti was a nice compromise.

I feel like everyone here is only upset because they expect a 80% increase over last gen cards but a 20% decrease in price.

Uhm, what? I paid 630 for a custom 980 Ti pretty much one year ago now. I even got a free game with the card, which is sold for 30$ wink.gif

1070 is like ~450$ now. And custom 980 Ti beats custom 1070: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-FRuIvGF7U&list=WL&index=28

If you overclock these cards further, the 980 Ti would pull even more ahead. GM200 simply scales much better with OC than GP104. Which is also why custom 1070's are not much faster than Founders Editions.

I'm not impressed with the 1070 at all. It only looks somewhat good, when compared to a reference 980 Ti. Custom vs Custom and things change alot.

It is a pricy card, for sure. For the record, mine will be delivered within the next 2 hours. But I can't comprehend why there is such an uproar over the price. Whenever you are on the bleeding edge, you are going to pay a premium to be on that edge. Sometimes you're paying 70% more for only 10% increase in performance. But you pay it because you want that extra 10%. If you don't want that 10%, you skip it. Fortunately we're getting more than 10% with this =)

I love how some people get so "moist" over the performance of ultra high end cards. Seriously guys for $1200 it should be AMAZING as well as fold laundry, make me breakfast and walk the dog.

At this price performance does not impress me, it is a given.

I wonder how long will it take AMD to triumph this monster

Maybe when Donald trump step down.

Looks like I know where I'm putting some savings.... ~70% increase over my 980 Ti? Yes please.

Now I just need a slick 4k display with G-Sync...

Oh lord, the stockholm syndrome is real.

And the whole 'We increase performance some 25% per step' that has been going on for the past 4 or 5 years? Smells of an antitrust lawsuit coming shortly.

As of the most recent Steam survey, 95% folk still play at 1080p@60hz (or less) for which a $200-250 card like 480/1060 is plenty. If anything PC gaming is more cost effective than ever before.

Literally the only reason nVidia can charge $700-1200 for a single card is due to lack of competition. Same reason why i7 6950X costs $1700.

No competition in the highest performance bracket = free reign with prices, but for the typical consumer it's completely irrelevant.

Whoever wants the bleeding edge should be prepared for whatever nonsensical prices companies throw their way.

.

Bad comparison. There aren't two manufacturers in the car market and most that buy cars don't care about performance. You're right on the lack of competition affecting pricing though. AMD is always late to the show and hasn't been delivering for a while.

Otherwise you see, you just become irritating.

Nah, he's just speaking the truth. Morons buying these overpriced cards are contributing to the higher and higher pricing. I know, I used to be one of them and if I were still into gaming, I'd still be one of them.
