Another method is by installing pfSense in a virtual machine and placing it between your NIC and Windows, thus forcing your OS to go through the firewall first and blocking all those IP's that way.

The second method isn't easy or at least I haven't been able to get it to work.

What if you ran a virtual machine on your host Windows 10 machine such as a Linux or Windows 7 guest? That way Windows 10 would not be able to use telemetry or any of it's other features to spy on your browsing habits? Also say if Windows was infected with malware, your guest Linux OS would be safe from hackers for the most part.

If you downloaded the ISO, then you can just compare the SHA1 hash with the matching version from here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/#ProductFamilyId=657

Windows 10 (Multiple Editions), Version 1607 (Updated Jul 2016) (x64)

SHA1: 99FD8082A609997AE97A514DCA22BECF20420891

Just download the file like I said in the OP, and put in on a USB drive with Rufus, is the only way I know you can know for sure you are getting the latest build. Unless you compare the hashs.

chrome has always been a love-hate affair for me. I can't stand how slow chrome is but I've tried other browsers and never really liked them. I tried other browsers but I keep coming back to chrome even though it's slow and sluggish. I like how fast and simple edge was but not supporting extensions kept me from using it.

hopefully I can get rid of chrome once and for all. I will give edge a go thumb.gif

I don't have an option to download the ISO. I only see "update now" or "download tool". I already set user agent in IE11 to WIndows Phone. If I choose "update" it shows the latest version as 14xxx something.

I just tested it and it worked.

Not a bad idea to run the System cleanup tool too, it will catch some update related stuff that isn't all in Windows.old.
