RAM is a bit finicky to overclock. Although I have just copied the higher clocked ram and latency from the same manufacturer before with luck, it's failed more times than not.

Either way OP like others have said, 3000-3200 mhz is the right speed decision for Skylake.

From a gaming standpoint it'll improve minimum frame-rate in CPU intensive situations. Online/multiplayer games especially.

I believe any DDR4 RAM that is clocked over 2400 MHz is already considered overclocked as there's no JEDEC standard for anything above that. The same was true of DDR3 until standards for 1600 MHz and higher were established.
