[Various] RX 470 Reviews - Page 36

Yea, I honestly think once prices stabilize the only two options in the low-mid end are the RX 470 and GTX1060.

460 isn't worth it... Was hoping it would be a decent upgrade over a 750ti but it's not enough to swap it out.

are two of these pontiac gtx and liranian?

If you mean me (Liranan), sir, you are sorely mistaken. I am highly attached to this 290 as we have a very loving relationship few could understand.

yup I guess you're one of those who got a hold of a cheap 290 after the mining craze and are now judging everyone who buys a new gpu since they're all overpriced.

Well I cannot play AotS on 2GB card. BF1 uses around 3.6GB, GTA V.... Well its better for me to buy rx 470 nitro+ 8GB than stock rx 480 8GB or rx 480 4GB nitro.

I havent seen any gigabte g1...g1 is the shortest ant probably best cooled rx card.

Having to reduce settings in 3-4 years is why I say that the vram probably won't be the limiting factor. You gonna run hi res textures and 4xmsaa on medium? Lol

You seem to have made up your mind. But just wanna leave this for you to consider.

2fps difference in aots and 4fps difference in gta5, since those are two that you mentioned

That's comparing a 480 and a 470 though and has nothing to do with textures being a light hit on performance these days.

my point was there is a $40 difference between those two, the 8gb 470 costs the same as the 480 and he made it seem like 4gb wasn't enough for those two games. If there is that small of a difference between the 470 4gb and the 480, how much of a difference is there going to be between the 4gb and 8gb 470? 1-2fps? Which would actually be attributed to the memory clock and not the extra 4gb.

As for textures, idk what you're getting at. I said only reason for 8gb 470.would be if you wanted to use hi res textures as they cost a lot of vram. Never said you would take a performance hit. Textures would be my main priority though, when playing on medium settings in 4 years.

That's still not the point... Vram limit is a hard limit and hardly based on fps. You either have enough memory or you don't. Newer games will continually push higher textures and have heavier vram requirements.
