Seeing that the sapphire nitro 470 and 480 look identical for example would using an 480's Bios in the 470 work out biggrin.gif

Or there is no real point in doing it because the disabled SP could be low performing and the card is ROP limited anyway?

Well I have it - RX 470 8GB nitro +. If you find bios mod... thanks.

Newegg had stock of the Nitro+ 8GB 470 last night for a bit. I snagged one. $40 less than a nitro 480 and from what I've seen it can perform almost as well if not better than a 480, and time will tell if we find a BIOS mod for it to unlock it further. I unlocked the shaders on my HD6950 when I got it and that deff helped in some games. But regardless of how well it performs it's gonna kick the crap out of my current card, and it looks a whole lot nicer too haha. thumb.gif

It's IMHO hardware locked on Polaris. Otherwise there are reference 470s and 480s so if someone wants to brick their card go ahead and try flashing 480 on a 470.

You cant brick a card with a flash FYI. Re-flashing is a simple task.

Not to mention this card has a Dual-Bios so it's even easier to re-flash. I "bricked" my Sapphire HD6950 a few times editing the BIOS to unlock the shaders and attempt a BIOS OC. Flipped the switch, reloaded the bios, flipped it back, reflashed it and I was golden. Another reason I really like Sapphire.

For DX11 somewhat similar if a tad slower.
If you already have a 970, I don't see a reason to buy it. If you have nothing or something older, definitely worth it.

Yea, even at $210 its still worth it.

I had to convince my bro NOT to get the GTX 950 he saw on sale for $170.... he's upgrading from a GTX 650 Ti and trying to do decent settings on GTA V.

I mean, the $40 difference is more than worth it, the RX 470 is easily 40-50 FPS over the GTX 950, let alone his old GTX 650 Ti.

He got a XFX RX 470 at Best Buy for $210, eh its probably an aftermarket model, either way he can play GTA V without low FPS on low settings.

with RX 470 sapphire nitro i am playing GTA V on max settings with lowered AA at 60+ fps, strangely on DX10 because DX11 is causing some FPS drops during collisions.

So whats the verdict for you guys? 470 > 480 or 480 >470?

Anyone that has had one willing to tell me the experience with it so far, really looking into buying one for $170 (MSi) the minute I see one.
